wouldnt this be cool if it was true.... text below was copied from a sirius message board: Analysts I've reached so far on today's SIRI-Apple rumor about the possible launch of an iPod that can receive satellite broadcasts don't want to stick their necks out and say it's not going to happen, because it very well may at some point. It certainly makes sense that SIRI would WANT a deal with Apple, as it would give the company an offering that would top XM Satellite's MyFi portable, which went on sale Dec. 1. Analysts have commented previously that the MyFi represents a competitive offering to the Apple iPod. Clearly, SIRI will benefit from the floating an idea like a satellite iPod, even if the announcement isn't planned for a year or more (note that people have been talking for many months about delivering video via SIRI's network -- a technology that's still nowhere to be found). But there are some possible technical hurdles to a sat iPod that must be noted. Several analysts I spoke to today said SIRI isn't far enough along with its technology to launch an iPod with a satellite radio receiver. SIRI is on its 2.5-generation chipset, and analysts said the company is expected to launch its portable-ready 3rd-generation in the fall of '05. Some note that even the 3-gen chipset might not be advanced enough to run a satellite receiver in an iPod, so they remain skeptical that such an offering is coming any time soon.
