iPod iPod won't sync?

I'm trying to sync my Mom's iPod after I just added a CD to her library, but it just says "Do Not Disconnect" on the iPod screen and under "File" the "Sync iPod" option is faded and I can't select it. What is wrong?

She's using a PC by the way.

Is her iPod set to have manually managed music/videos?
