Hello everyone,

I've done a fair amount of searching around before I posted this, but forgive me if I have missed something obvious. I have run into a very strange problem with two ipods ( a 1G mini and a 3G nano). They are recognized and will sync to my macbook, but will not be recognized at all by my mac mini. I care about this because I cannot keep all my music on my macbook drive for much longer - it's nearly full already.

Both machine run 10.5.3. This issue has been around since 10.5.2 for me.

On my mac mini, not only will both ipods not show up on the desktop or in iTunes, but when using About This Mac and looking under USB, they do not seem to register as USB devices at all.

I have tried the 5 R's recommended by Apple, to no avail. Again, both iPods work just fine with my macbook, using the very same dock cable as I tried using for my mac mini, so it does not seem to be a faulty cable

I have tried each port of the mac mini, including the ones that I use to connect my mouse and keyboard (which work just fine).

I have tried trashing a few preference files:

com.apple.ituneshelper.plist
com.apple.itunes.plist
com.apple.ipod.plist (both in the user folder and in /Library)

Nothing seems to have helped. I am at a loss. It seems to be a software problem to me, some mistakenly set ipod or usb preference somewhere that prevents the mac mini for seeing either ipod, but I cannot figure out what it is. If anyone has any suggestions or similar experiences, I would be grateful to hear them.
