What do you think are the chances of apple giving away ipods with their laptops again when the school year gets closer? Does anyone know approximately what month they gave the ipods away last year? I'm getting a macbook pro before college starts but I just wanted to wait to get the best deal.

AU$199 off an iPod with any student purchase of any Mac, excluding 17" iMac, up until the 16th of April.

    In Australia.

    Yes, that's right now.

I remember Apple UK had an offer last August that was something like 10% off any iPod when bought with a new Mac.

I got €160 off an iPod last year in Ireland. Got the edu discount on the MacBook as well, so it was a total saving of about €240. I think the UK ran £100 off iPods at the same time (our stores are linked).

i think that deal could very well happen again. considering how popular the macbook seems to be. the extra incentive could push the skeptical people into buying one.

NZ$229 off any iPod with the purchase of a Mac at the NZ Apple store. Bought mine about 2 weeks ago, still have yet to send in the rebate form.

Apple has some wierd instructions as well. If you read the form, you're supposed to send them the sales receipt and cut out the barcodes (plus the backing cardboard) from the box that came with both the Mac and the iPod.

I'd guess that's so you have to damage the box, and you can't sell it as new in a store (otherwise resellers could have a field day sending students off to buy loads of them).

    That's my guess anyway.
