I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2011 17MBP.

They seem like a very reputable outfit... what are y'alls thoughts? Any of you out there bought from iPower Resale Group?

Thanks!

I’m in the same position. They have what I’m looking for and with a reasonable price. I see a few negative comments elsewhere, but mostly positive. I am thinking about going for the 3-year warranty just to be safe, but that is only as good as their service if something goes wrong.

Looks like good prices as the resale value of the 17" MBP is high especially for the 2.5 ghz models. The 17" is a powerhouse of connectivity and easily holds it's own today in performance with SSD upgrades. Especially good deal if all parts are new old stock.

What is interesting in the website offerings are the upgrades in processors up to 2.5ghz but is based on the 2.2ghz base models. I would ask if upgraded to 2.5ghz is the motherboard the late 2011 unit or a modded early 2011?.
You might want to ask if the boards are stock or repair modified to deal with the issue of the graphics card and solder problems some have had in the past - ie all heat related IMO.

If their warranty is good then also ask what off warranty repair costs would be.

The box arrived at the end of the day yesterday. So far this morning I’ve only unboxed it and gone over things physically. The case has some minor marring on the top and low on the sides - typical for being set under a desk with things sat on top of it and running into the sides with shoes or a vacuum. Other than that, it is physically clean and in good shape.

Going through the internals (it is a Mac Pro), the only thing out of order I’ve found is that I’m missing three hard drive tray fasteners - the ones to attach the drive to the tray.

My next step is powering it up and running it through the TechToolPro tests to see if that turns up any abnormalities.
