It's not enough for me, but I have over 6,000 songs downloaded on my phone, many of them lossless.

Curious do you notice the difference in audio quality playing the lossless out the iPhone's DAC in typical listening environments?

While I try to keep all my music as high fidelity as possible, I mostly listen to music from my iPhone at the gym. Where I am not sure I could tell the difference between AM and FM...

Everyone knows you need at least 512 GB for basic emails, web surfing and texts.

If you're doing something with images and video, well you really need at least 1 terabyte. You need to max out for that.

🤨🤪😜

Obviously, you just get what you need and each person knows their own requirement or can ask someone who might be able to advise them.

For me it is, but that's definitely thanks to my 2TB iCloud+ subscription.
My next phone will be a 15 Pro 256GB just because of that. As my Photo library is 144GB by itself.

It is for me. I'm not using even half of the storage space on my 128 GB iPhone. It's interesting to me the way "the cloud" was first marketed as a means of eliminating the need for so much local storage, but local storage capacities just seem to be increasing and increasing as apps and photos get larger and more unwieldy. I only have two games on my phone, and I don't play much downloaded music since I mostly stream. For that reason, there's no need for more storage on my part.

So it's disgusting how much Google charges too, right? right? They charge the same amount for a 2TB plan. In fact, they don't even offer more than 2TB like Apple does.
We agree. 5 Gb $1. You think that’s right?

It should be 128 gb $1. Apple is doing this by design. Open your eyes my friend.

My MacBook Air is also 512GB and I'm only using 43GB on it.

I stream my music/movies/tv and iCloud deals with everything else. I'm paying for 50GB plan but I'm only using 700-800MB so the 5GB free tier would be enough but it's only 99p/month for 50GB and I get Hide My Email/Private Relay.

Wow, out of curiosity, is this for personal use or work?

In my work laptop some of my projects are 14 GB, up to 31 GB in size, I have 2 TB plus external hard-drives.

In my personal computer I have over 110 GB of photos and over 16 GB of music, it has 1 TB and I am using almost half of it.

For me it is, I'm using 70GB, but I use Google Photos and I don't download music. That's why I don't back up my phone because there's nothing on it that matters to me, just apps I can redownload. 128GB is the genuinely usable, non-frustrating minimum nowadays. Would I call it "Lots of storage for lots of photos" as the ad says - absolutely not

so now that we have beaten the 256GB on an entry Mac to death (yea I know ...) ...
it depends on your usage, for some it is plenty, for others it is not and they need more - you have options

I have 64 on my XS and it’s fine as I do local backups and keep my photos pruned. The thing that riles me is that apple thinks it’s ok to store 10-12 gig of undeletable “system data” on my phone.

Also remember that Apple didn’t get to be such a valuable company without offering limitations and solutions to them all at the same time.

is there anyone out there offering 128GB cloud storage for $1???
I am perfectly happy with my "free" 5GB iCloud, serves me very well ...
I don't pay anyone for cloud storage, I have a solid backup solution in place for my (currently) ~ 4TB of data

Not for me, but I'm weird
I insist on toting around my entire full quality local iTunes library (512gb iPhone 13 Mini)

:p

Depends on the use case. If you don't save local copies of your music, take occasional photos in JPEG and only stream content, I think you could skate by with 128GB for maybe another year. After that is pushing it because iOS is getting bigger and more complex.

For years I've been asking Apple for the option to sync only photos to iCloud Photos. Videos are what devours storage. I have the 2 tb iCloud plan, but that would be wiped out if I synced my photo library because of the videos. If I could sync just photos, it would work great for me.
