Sandisk Cruzer Fit 64gb

Good idea. And if you don't like USB, there's a 'short' SD option - perfect for an MBA with an SD slot. (i.e., 13").

Costs around $150 for an extra 128GB. And since you don't need it now, wait a year and it'll be cheaper. I'm amazed how cheap flash is getting and I'm sure you can put that $200 to better use in the meantime.

128 GB Absolutely not enough

Two years down the road you going to wish you got the 256GB. In fact I wish I had the 512GB. I have to store all my photos on a 1TB back up drive. I cannot use Aperture or Lightroom to store photos in a folder. When my computer has less then 20GB of space left, it runs really slow. Now I'm looking at upgrading the SSD at a cost of roughly $500 or just buying a new computer (MacBook Air, 512GB, 8 Gb ram) for $1849. Had I done that two years ago, I would not be talking about this.

I was talking to an Apple Sales guy at the local Apple store, and he told me that the i7 will be necessary in the future ... you don't agree with this? Just trying to figure out where everyone's opinions clash.
Absolutely not. Currently its *very* few applications that gives you a benefit with the i7, and none that you describe, and that is most likely not to change in the future. He was obviously just trying to sell you something you don't need.

I have the 128GB model. With just a little bit of memory management, it's pretty easy to keep it clear. I routinely hover around 40-45GB of usage.

They all give you the benefit of going 20% faster with the i7.

I have the base model 11" - 128 / 4 gig memory / i5 / 10.9

I have Parallels / Win7 on it too
FileMaker Pro
QuickBooks
No photos
Few gigs of music

I have almost half the drive free
I doubt I will regret not having another 128 available...

I'm currently using an Asus netbook that came with a 256GB HDD (I think). Planning on upgrading to a Macbook Air, and I can't really see the point for the $200 upgrade to a 256GB SSD. Is there any reason why someone would need this in high school / university? I don't take all that many pictures and have been planning to get an external hard drive for that stuff anyway if I need to.

Help greatly appreciated :)

In a word, no. 128 gig is not going to be enough. External 1+ terabyte devices are nice, SD cards are nice, but I'd rather have "more than enough" internal storage to begin with.

I purchased 2 of these 128 gig cards from B&H Photo at under $100 per card. Being able to move audio & video to one of these was a perfect addition to my environment.

I just looked and the 128 gig model is currently selling for $80.

I am not too comfortable with cracking open my MacBook to tinker with the innards. :(

Agreed. ;)

Ended up going with the 256GB option because it was on sale while the 128 was not (futureshop). Arriving in ~2 hours, can't wait.
