Is 12GB the "sweet spot" for the Nehalem Mac pros?

    Since its triple channel, maybe the 12GB RAM is the sweet spot?

    Does it work with 24GB? I think it does.

    Not sure if the extra throughput would be more of a benefit than the extra 8GB of RAM by installing 32GB.

    It depends on what you're doing with the machine. :eek: ;)

    For some applications, the extra bandwidth may be used, such as related to server usage. However, many don't seem to benefit from the additional bandwidth at all, compared to dual channel operation, and may benefit more from additional capacity (adding the 4th UDIMM per processor drops the band to dual channel). Photoshop seems to be such an example, according to other member's posts. Tesselator's remarks come to mind. ;)
