What do you guys think? I think on eBay they may be going for a little more, but after PayPal fees, eBay fees, etc., I may just go with this Best Buy deal - even though inherently a trade-in is never good value.

Your input is much appreciated.

doesn't sound too unfair to me. 1/2 the price of a new one to put it that way.

I would at least try to sell it myself before resorting to the trade in programs.

Seems fair

Seems about right. Cow boom (bestbuy) is selling them for $249 at http://www.cowboom.com/

I can't imagine you will get more than about $225 on your own so $45 to not deal with the fees and hassle would be a fair trade off.

Wretched deal. I sold my 16gb iPad 1 for 400 in December. At this point I would expect at least 350-400 for a 32gb.

You can't replaces your iPad 1 for $225. Why not enjoy it, like I do. Use it on the second floor or in another part of your home. mine has scratched glass and a bent corner. I say enjoy it.

IMO, under $200 isn't worth selling. My reasoning is that iPads (even the original) are such versatile devices that theres always a cool usage scenario for it. Keep it in the kitchen, workshop, couch, office or whatever and you'll find a cool opportunity to use it.

Plus, it's such an attractive and historical device that would be worth keeping just as a fan.

I got that much for my 16GB OG iPad from Best Buy.

You should be able to do better.

$550 for a 64 GB iPad 2 last week on eBay. ;)

I have my 32gb wifi on craigslist for $275. People have been offering $200. No way I will sell it for that. It's still a good device and with 5.1 fully functional. I wish it were faster but I am still able to use it at work everyday to create with.

Just got $275 for a 1st gen iPad 32GB wifi & 3G with nice case included in the deal. They were ecstatic. :D

No way, I sold mine for $300 on CL tho it still had warranty and came with a case you should be getting atleast 250

That price quote is awful!

Craigslist or eBay would be a far better idea since after you trade it in, that's exactly what the company you're trading your iPad into, will do the same thing or resell it at a huge profit margin.

I sold my 64GB first generation wifi model (with Apple case) and all the original documents, box and such and got $425 for it.

Patience was key and I managed to get a healthy sum of money back from my $700+ investment that lasted me a long while. It still has a long life left in it and the buyer was thrilled due to the flawless condition I kept mine in.
