Hello. I need a light computer for travel and to edit some photos from my sony a7r4 (61 megapixel camera). Would the 2019 MacBook pro (13 inch) be able to handle the large files? If yes, which model (upgrades) should I consider. Thanks so much,

Marsha

If money isn't an issue, shop for the 2019 MBP13 2,4Ghz / 16gb ram / 512gb ssd. Should be quite ok for you.

It is a very specific question, I have a 2019 i7 quad core 16GB 1TB 13" MBP...It replaced my 2018 i9 hexcore 32GB 1TB 15" MBP. Other than rendering out a video the 13" feels quicker for most of my tasks, less fans as well. It seems to be less throttled.

But I haven't got any 61MP raw files to try it out...Should be plenty fast though.

It certainly will. The question is not whether it can handle them, but whether it can handle them well. I’m certain it could. I’m using a 2015 dual core with 8GB of ram and with 24MP files and it’s a non-issue. Your file will be bigger but the 2019 is significantly faster in almost every way than the 2015.

One thing to be aware of is that the larger SSDs are faster. I have a 256. I would avoid the 128 and get the 256 or 512, and go for 16GB of RAM. You might get by with 8 but I’d go for 16.

There's people running RAWs on Air's out there no problem. The real concern with the Air to Pro models is video, not really Photos.
