I'm Really satisfied with the resolution on my ipad 2. I can only see the pixels if i bring it unnaturally close to my eye and that is not how i use it.

The only reason why I will consider switching is if its significally faster.

Really, I think it is more than enough. I personally think a resolution of 1280*800 would be suffice on a screen of this size. But more is always welcome.

One thing they could do is keep the iPad 2 at 1024 x 768, and sell an iPad Pro at 2048 x 1536, and charge a $200-300 premium for it.

It would sell like HOT cakes and add a few billion dollars more into Apple's coffers...

Given that a used original iPad 16GB / Wifi still fetches a 50% premium on a Kindle Fire, and Apple is still selling the 3GS, I wonder if they might not do that (continue selling the iPad 2). $200-300 more than the iPad seems like way too much for a tablet (that still isn't really all that untethered from the desktop) to me, but they could probably get away with it.

The problem would be that they would get intensified competition in the $500 space. Maybe at least if they have a better processor or something to keep the non-Retina iPad moving forward.

I have to say on the iPhone, Retina display is a lot more subtle than I expected. It's definitely better, but it's not like the jump from VGA to XGA or something like that.

How big is your TV? On my 110" screen and 1080p projector, viewed from 7 feet away, DVD is practically unwatchable. At 1080p, things look pretty good, but I need 4k resolution if I want things really sharp (will make it closer to a retina display)

That is one of the reasons why I just got a 720p projector, most of my available content doesn't come in 1080p. I find normal DVDs very wachable, though I don't stretch them out to the full 110" that my screen will allow, I generally focus them down to about 100". But still I admit that they are not nearly as nice as the 1080p over-the-air broadcast TV that I have now that I've hooked up a TV tuner and an antenna.

Question is - how well will Infinity Blade play at that resolution?

Doesn't the iPad 2 have 9x the GPU horsepower of the first one? Making the next chance of the iPad having 4x stronger GPU not sound so out there.
