op I am also still tied into the iPhone unlimited grandfather plan. My bill after employee discounts at my work is around 93.00. It just went up after the last 5 dollar hike.

A few months back I aggressively compared other plans and decided to stick with what I have.

I don’t talk or text much but use about 6/8gb of data each month. I don’t want to save money by capping my speeds either like the cheaper unlimited AT&T plans.

So far now I decided to stay on the older iPhone plan.

Yes for 1 line $90 a month is up there.
You can do a lot better.
If you transfer your line to a family plan with other lines you could be paying less than half of what you're paying now.

I want to stay with AT&T and with the amount of data I use I just found the grandfather plan to still be the best. I agree it’s a bit pricy (use to be only 85) but if one uses over 6gb of data and enjoys the faster LTE speeds it’s still the better plan imo.

I used ATT Wireless a few years back. Switched to Cricket Wireless for unlimited high speed data, text and voice. $50/month. I actually pay $45/month since I have autopay enabled. They use ATT network so I get the same coverage. They also have visual voicemail. You just have to install their app from the Play Store.

You also may want to check out Mint Wireless prepaid. Of course quality of coverage depends on you location. I think they use the Verizon network but don't quote me.

That's what's holding you back then.
Sticking with AT&T is pointless if another company gives you better coverage, speeds and monthly price.
Brand loyalty goes out the window with me, I support my own wallet ;)

I am thinking of upgrading to Iphone X, i would like to consider the options and swap carrier with same #. I am in the NYC area and have a verizon iphone 6 work phone.

[I have a 6s+ via ATT subsidized plan text deleted]

This part of the OP post seems to have been lost.

Assuming you are looking to replace the personal phone and not switch the work device to X?

Probably talking out my rear on this, but, if wanting a chance at an X on day one, need to stick with ATT as you need an active line of service to pre-order with the big four. If you try to buy via the work Verizon line, your work phone's line will be switched to the X. You might be able to then switch the Verizon line back to the 6 and then try to get a new carrier for the X, just not sure if possible and how easy to do in the short-term with Verizon and carrier-to-be-named-later. Upside, the X on Verizon is a world phone, so, can move it to any US carrier.

If still some time away, I'd probably research which carrier I want to go with re: plans, and then switch over when the X is more available, as your current 6s+ is only good for ATT and T-Mobile and you will need to get a new device for the new line of service.

I am in the NYC area
i use Sprint in NYC and i'm definitely satisfied with the coverage and speed.

this month's bill is $66.22 total..
unlimited text/talk/data + 10GB hotspot

-----
Sprint has a deal right now if you switch to them (bring in a phone# which you were using on another carrier) and bring your own phone, they'll give you free service for 1 year.. (the same plan i outlined above)

For me at least. It's a regular plan. I get a FAN discount from my employer.
I asked because when i was on pre-paid plan i was able to negotiate and get 8gb of data. I was getting over my data plan which was 6GB and was charged $15 for 1GB many a times.

I pay 118 a month. Single line, 6GB data plan including the cost of the Iphone 7

That’s what I’m paying for a single line att grandfathered also.
I use 15-20 gigs a month. What other plans are compatible that I can put my phones payment plan on? I don’t see much really.
I wouldn’t mind getting cricket but I don’t know how that works with getting the new phone in a week. Upgrade on att then what?

If you upgrade with ATT, don't you have to keep the account open with them?

What country are you in?

I want to think you are on someone else's plan you you pay the feed for an added line?

USA and nope. I use Mint SIM on their 2GB plan. It’s normally priced at $15 a month but I got a discount and got it for $13.33 month for a year. Even their most expensive plan is only $25 a month and it’s for unlimited everything with 10GB LTE.

If Tmobile has good coverage in the areas you need it to be they have really solid plans.

Currently my bill for 3 lines unlimited everything plus tethering is exactly $59.99

Hi,

My 2-year contract with ATT for iphone 6s+ is ending. I only stayed with ATT because of the unlimited plan I've had since 2009 or so. is $90/month with discount a decent plan, and if not what are comparable rates? it was worth it to me as i was using 20-30gb a month.

Now that most carriers are offering "unlimited" I am thinking of upgrading to Iphone X, i would like to consider the options and swap carrier with same #. I am in the NYC area and have a verizon iphone 6 work phone.

iirc i paid several hundred $$$ for iphone 6s+ and the fees i paid over te 2 year contract paid off the rest.

now that phone is paid off, what is the best option to proceed if i pay outright for iphone x? does the rate i paid go down if i buy the phone outright?

thanks.

Really depends on how much unlimited data is worth to you.

If you could reduce the amount of data you use, you could save a lot. We pay less than that and get unlimited talk/text and 20GB shared on three lines.

$50 (I pay $48.50)

Verizon Prepaid 7 GB + 2 GB Bonus w/ Carryover

I always start the month with 15 or 16 GB. Bonus/carryover data is used first, hence why I always start out strong with data.

$90 for a phone bill is ridiculous, to me anyways. If you don't need to finance a new phone, there are better options out there, especially with prepaid. If you like AT&T, check out their two prepaid brands.
