Ummm.
The newest iBook G4
1.42 Ghz
14 inch
1 GB RAM
60 GB HD
Superdrive
Airport
Bluetooth
Pretty good condtion. Bought only 8 months ago so it still has the 1 year warranty left. Isn't it still elligible for the extended warranty?

Yes, you can still get Apple Care on it. Apple has that model refurbed for $1099 right now so expect a but less even with the RAM. Try eBay you're not going to get as an inflated price here.

I abhor eBay, too many bad experiences, I would probably want to sell it here on on something like Craigslist. Do you think I would still be able to get a reasonable amount for it on something besides eBay?

Craigslist is a good idea too.

Also, I notice that Dual G5's aren't too bad on the Apple Refurbished website. What is the advantage on Dual Processor G5's? Are they screaming fast?

You get load balancing so you can multitask while doing CPU intensive work. (Gaming, video encoding, & rendering) You still have some runtime left over to web browse while you do your work or you can just dedicate 100%.

Speaking of iMacs.......can anyone that has one tell me the resolutions on them?

17 inch 1.6
20 inch 1.8
17 inch 1.9
20 inch 2.0
20 inch 2.1

I am sure there are other models, but those are the only ones I can think of.

I think I would want the 20 inch 2.0, because they have those at school and I sue them some, and they rock.

You forgot about

17 inch 1.8
17 inch 2.0 :)

BTW 2 ghz iMac should be noticable faster than 1.6 PowerMac, partly because it has 400 MHz memory while PM has 333, so iMac's memory and CPU work synchronously. There are 4 drawbacks of the iMac compared to this PM:

1) You are limited to 2 GB of RAM
2) You are limited to 1 HD
3) You cannot upgrade the video card
4) You do not get any PCI slots.

BUT, it has

1) 400 MHz faster CPU
2) Faster RAM
3) More standard HD space
4) Takes up very little space

What are the advantages for Intel iMac over iMac G5? I mean besides the obvious. And nobody say anything about dual-booting, because I think that is C-R-A-P. I bought an Apple for the OS. So any REAL advantages.

the intel imac has that ONE true advantage of dual native booting over the powerPC, no others

...like i said before, i have both...and for necessity (law software) and for just basic curiosity...i got the intel mac, plus i am a pc tech so i can stay current with windows and all the bad things about it (which make me money)

but the dual boot option is that ONE advantage in an intel mac...if you absolutely don't need it, your G5 is way better...and yes, sell the ibook you have so you can buy a nice lcd monitor for your power mac

I'd say talk them down to $700 if you can. I just bought a G5 for $740 last week from Craigslist. The machine is perfect and runs great. It took a little patience of searching almost everyday but it paid off I think. The stats on that are:

Powermac G5 1.8 GHz (rev B.)
512 ram
200 GB SATA HD
USB 2.0 PCI card
Bluetooth add-on
Keyboard/mouse
Tiger Disc
And everything else that originally came with it.

I already upgraded it with another 2 GB ram, a faster CD/DVD burner, 2nd SATA hard drive and an ATI 9800pro for less than $250. So the whole thing costs me around $1000.

Thanks for all the help everyone, but I just bit the bullet and bought a different G5 from another friend. 1000 for a PM G51.8 Rev B, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hd, AppleCare until 08.2007, Airport.

I think this is better, seeing as I can keep my iBook now.
Yay!

Anyone know where I can get a good cheap video card now, it still has the stock one in it?

Better vid cards for a AGP G5 are hard to find, you only have a couple of options and they are pretty expensive. You have the 9600, 9800, 6800 and X800. The 9800 is about 250 USD, the 6800 and X800 are about 500 USD. You can always buy a windows vid card and flash it.
