Is a 16gb iPhone 6 truly 16gb?

I purchased a 16gb iPhone 6. It should be coming by early October. Is there actually 16gb of free space available? Or less because of the OS and what not? Thanks!

PS I'm with Verizon. Is it too late for me to call them and have them change my order to a 64 gig? Or will that push my delivery date back?

Definitely less. The OS and settings take up some of that 16 gigs. Mine had around 12 gigs free.

Nothing ever has the exact amount of advertised space due to OS, system data, etc.

My 5 had 11.8 gb free with just iOS loaded on it the day I bought it. I'm sure the 6 is similar.

As for changing your order, you'll probably have to cancel and reorder and it may push your delivery date back depending on supply. I doubt they can just change it.

Any smartphone you buy will always have the quoted storage minus the OS that it comes with.

I suppose ~12 gigs is fine. All my music is through Spotify and I don't usually download too many apps.

I ordered a 64 GB, but I am thinking I won't be using that much space.
