Hey everyone!

Simple question (complicated answer?): Is a 2020 model OLED TV a good option for a monitor?

I‘ve been considering getting an OLED TV for a while for entertainment. Watch TV, play games, etc.

I started working with photography and learning code. It’s still early, but I do like working with a big screen and contemplating what monitor to get.

Then I got to thinking, since my standing desk would be in front of my TV, why don’t I use the OLED TV for all three things?

Would save me money AND space. It’s also just convenient overall.

I looked online, and similar questions have been posted, but some are a bit old.

I’m wondering if burn in and color accuracy is still a big issue with newer models?

Would this be a bad idea?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Bad idea.

It would look gorgeous at first but OLED TVs are still susceptible to burn in, even if they’re newer and optimized.

People keep saying theoretically it can happen, but I haven't seen any evidence of such.

Well now smart TVs with microphones and Manufacturers are leaning in so put it another was way, your private conversation! So stay away from TV Smart functions!

All that data they collect is used to subsidize the cost of the TV too. There's a reason why a high end small LCD monitors like the LG 5k are as expensive as TVs with picture quality and features that blow it away.
