is a hack to enable TV Out via 3.5mm possible?

the camcorder type 3.5mm cord has 3 rings and the iPhone and 2/3 iPhone touch support that type of cord, the bottom 2 are audio (which come out fine) and the top one is video or normally mic/remote (doesnt come out) and if a hack to use this cord as video came out, it would be sweet

Um...that would require a hard-wired connection from the graphic output to the jack. That's not the kind of think you can do with software. And I can't imagine why this would be preferable to the current dock connector adapters.

The older ipods had the ability to output video from the 3.5mm jack.

I'm not sure if the touch/phones do as well, but I highly doubt it.

Not possible, without modifying the hardware inside your iPhone. The "extra" ring on the 3.5mm socket is wired as a microphone input, not a video output.

As I said, there would need to be a hardware connection between the video out and the 3.5 mm jack. Such a connection doesn't exist. You can't turn a microphone input into a video output by changing software.

And I repeat: why would you need this? There are already adapters available for video output from the dock connector.
