Is a Macbook fast enough

Hello everyone,

My daughter is going to college soon and I want get her a used (Mid-2009) Macbook for $500 but she tells me it's too slow and asks for a Macbook Pro. She only uses her computer for Web, Music listening, iWork, and Light Photoshop work. What do you guys think? I think a Macbook should be enough for her.

Yes, the MB (even one from 2009 or 2008) will be fast enough for this.
You may need to upgrade the RAM though, to have a more fluent experience.

4GB should be sufficient, I'm not sure the 2009 MB can even access 8GB (only 6GB).

A 2009 Macbook will be plenty... Just get her a Macbook Unibody, swap out the glass with one from a Macbook Pro, and viola, you've successfully killed two birds with one stone =P.

Yeah I can run Lightroom on my 09 Macbook perfectly fine and I have just 2gb of ram. For what she's doing, a Macbook Pro would be a little overkill.

i have one with 4gb ram and i run the entire adobe master suite and cinema 4d without a problem. in short yes she would be fine but dont get less than 4
