    Let me know

where you saw it for 800 and I'll buy it! :p

Seriously though, that's a pretty good deal. They go for ~$1300 new from Apple with those options since its the middle model.
For that money you could probably get close to all of it back when you sell it.

I'm thinking he means he's considering buying the current model and then selling it when the new models are released-wondering what the resale value might be.

Refurb 2.1ghz with 1gb ram is $900 + tax. Think about that.

800 grains of rice? Probably. 800 boxes of cat food? Maybe so. 800 rupees? I'd snap it up in an instant.

I'm not really sure if it's worth 800 though.

a macbook can be had for about $800, or less, with the back to school stuff.

    education discount
sell the ipod touch for about 200-250 (pretty easy).

there you go, $800 for a new macbook

EDIT: nm you were talking about the 2.4ghz / 2gb mb

In itself, it sounds like an excellent deal. Buy it now if you need it, wait for the updates, if you don't. What I fail to understand is why you would consider buying it now, only to sell it after updates are issued when the price is certain to drop; why put yourself through such stress unless you like the adrenalin high of trading? If you want a very good computer at what seems to be a very good price, go for it. If you want to play poker with prices, I can't advise you on outcomes.
