The refurbished one directly from Apple? I would say yes if the price is right for you and you want 16GB or 64GB. The 6S will have a good longevity running future versions of iOS.
However, do you need it now? I would wait until the new iPhone announcement, and then look at the price cuts of 32GB/128GB 6S from retailers wanting to clear them out.

I would also look at the SE if you are on a budget. It's pretty much a 6S inside the casing of 5S, minus the 6S' front facing camera.

Currently have a 5 so was looking for an iOS 11 replacement.

If it's refurbished from Apple, The iPhone will come with a one-year warranty, the display, the casing and the battery will all be new. And yes, their replacement/refurbished iPhones are very good if you intend on purchasing from Apple.

Hey dogslobber, it's a great idea buying refurbished phone instead of new phone is always good idea.
I’m more into refurbished Apple products as it’s the category that keeps most of the value and make them more affordable.
But, there’s a struggle to compare easily and monitoring availabilities of these products. That was my mission for the last ten years, as I run now a website dedicated to it: https://www.refurb.me Would appreciate any feedback :)

I have the 6S Plus & am considering keeping it for another year. The phone works well & it will free up the limited budget to get a new 10.5 iPad Pro. I use my phone a lot but IPad gets used most often followed by RMBP & then the phone.

Refurbished items from Apple are wonderful!

Taking reburbished phones is like a random. It depends on ur luck. Some people have lots of troubles with their phones others have zero problem for many years. i think u should earn some more money and take new 6s, this variant isnt risky

definitely man if you even want a cheaper 6s, i recommend you getting it from apple. i personally do not trust third party resellers because of their quality checks, they might have hidden problems. also keep in mind that new iphone is coming out in few months time. if you like performance on your phone then suggest you wait it out until the new phone comes out later this year (may be you could save and get the new one, its expensive but will be worth the wait especially an upgrade from iphone 5, you). also apple doesn't allow you to downgrade to older version of the iOS because apple, so if you want ios 11 then there might be performance issues on the 6s. overall i recommend you get the lastest from apple so it will last you another 2 to 3 years or more.

I have bought two refurbished iPhones from apple and both were good as new. Just my experience. They were the 5s and 6.
