If between Cricket, Boost and Virgin, we can make the major carriers lose a few million subscribers, then maybe they might start listening to customers instead of raping our wallets every chance they get.

Verizon is the worst of the worst.

Yeah, I was wrong on that. I was thinking that he meant HSPA+ on Cricket.

I decided to go the other way and bought an AT&T iPhone 4S tonight off Craigslist to use on Straight Talk.

I asked Cricket about the 4S. They said no. I believe that it has to do with the 4S having a sim card.

Did you have to purchase a new sim for straight talk? How easy was it to get setup for it?

you have to purchase new sim card and if you are going to port your number i suggest you port it right away because if you don't and activate new number you won't be able to port to the same sim card later. You will have to get another sim card from ST and port then. I went through this myself with 2 sim cards. I got ST to test in my area and then wanted to port my numbers in from sprint. I couldn't do it and had to wait few days for new sim cards to arrive. After that port was done in under 5 minutes and so far my service has been really good. I'm using att sim cards and when I had my 4s it would display "4g" on it. Now that I'm using lumia 900 I get hspa + speeds and speeds vary from around 2mbits to around 9 in NYC area

thanks for the quick reply. Did you have to do anything special to get MMS working, or was it working from the start?

Thanks again

ST sells the SIMs directly for $14.95. $30 is fair if you don't want to mess with anything and have some one else set it up and configure it.

great, please post a follow up.

Thanks for the response

I ended up going with T-Mobile and not Straight Talk. I've got a 30 dollar plan with T-Mobile which gives me 100 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, and unlimited data(first 5 gb's at 4g speeds).

I don't talk much on the phone so I rarely go over 100 minutes. I mostly text. T-Mobile only has access to the Edge network now but they should be getting 3g/4g in my area this fall. They are already testing it out on the West Coast in some areas.

The data isn't really a problem because I rarely even use 100 mb's in a month. The reason I left Verizon is that I just hate paying for minutes and data that I just don't use. I'm really happy with the $30 T-Mobile deal. I'm ecstatic to be saving about $55 a month.

LTE for Cricket

Just remember Verizon iPhone will be LTE. With cricket and virgin mobile u will be on sprint slow CDMA network which is slower than Verizon CDMA networks

So if data speed doesn't matter to u. Go for it. Not sure about 4s. But I know the 4 can be flashed.

You can have LTE with Cricket in Tucson, AZ or if You live in Chicago area where it is not available yet (if the next iPhone has AWS support it will) as Cricket signed an agreement with Verizon to switch some spectrum so Cricket can get LTE in chicago and Verizon can get better coverage in places Cricket has better coverage and cricket payed $100 Million :) :apple: and also Cricket Mostly uses there own network and only sprint where it does not have coverage while Virgin Mobile always uses Sprint

I'm not rushing out and buying one, but I'm a current Cricket user. I went to the website today to see if they were rolling them out, etc. However, every zip code I typed in said it was unavailable in my area, even for the center of Chicago and Aurora. I'm at my parents' house out in the sticks today and I get Cricket service here, but they won't sell me an iPhone even if I were planning to buy one.

Cricket only sells the iPhone in areas where they use the PCS bands as the iPhone does not have support for the AWS bands (at this time).

I know this is irrelevant, but you might want to consider T-mobile. Just buy an unlocked iPhone 4S and use it on T-mobile's network. T-mobile's plans are crazily cheap and of value. I know in most areas you can only use T-Mobile's EDGE network, but they are slowly rolling out 'iPhone compatible 3G' HSPA+ bands, to complement those unlocked iPhones on their network.
