Prove it. Bs.

As a fellow MacBook owner (2016 m3) I can testify that when it was new I did get 10 hours. The battery life is still great but not quite at the same level as it was when I first got it.

Light use - browsing safari with no flash with maybe 70% brightness or word documents.

Just got my 2017 m3, and while I love it, I get nowhere near 10 hours even new. 3 charge cycles, and the first cycle was really short as I was syncing Dropbox and Drive. The next 2 I got about 7 hours with just routine stuff. Browsing, mails, Youtube, Spreadsheet work etc. Nothing involving high power consumption tasks like video/photo editing, or running an external drive. Always indoors, so screen at about 40% or so mostly.

Does the battery improve after a few cycles?

Adobe products will most likely be responsible for that result.

I am only using modern apps on my new MacBook. I have not yet tested the battery to death. I already decided not to use legacy apps. No Adobe and no Microsoft. I consider them to be bloated. I'm going to stick to Pages, Keynote, Affinity Photo and Designer, etc. Apps that don't have 20 years of legacy bloat in them.

8-10 hours is a piece of cake. I'm constantly amazed but the battery life.

Certain programs or tasks cam drain it quickly though. Keep an eye on your energy performance in activity monitor to see if something is using more than you would expect.

When you guys say you get 8-10, is that with screen on all the time? I get 10 hours, but of that, screen on, and actual usage will be only about 6-7 hours. Any suggestions?
