Upgraded to the most recent watchOS several weeks ago. For the first week or so, the battery life was pretty horrible. 2-4% loss of battery per hour. But I started using this watch today from 2:30PM until 7:43PM, and I still have 97%.

I have great battery life with my First Gen stainless. I am running Watch OS 3.1. I recall you posting another thread on your battery life issue a week or so back. I'm assuming the latest firmware update resolved any issues you may have experienced.

Yeah, it was awful then. Again, I really have no idea what changed. My usage hasn't drastically changed.

Since owning my S0 (from original release date) I have had low to diabolical battery times. OS 3.1 did improve upon this but it never gave me what I would call a great improvement .
Throughout I've always placed the watch on the charger roughly around the 60% mark just it to keep it 'topped up'.
However, the other week I let it run way way down to a mere 3% and then charged it back to the max.
What was weird is that for the next week it remained at 100% for a good many an hour and come bedtime it would still be around the 30% mark.
Then two nights back I started to 'top up' again', now I'm back to low battery times.
They say continuously topping up doesn't hurt but in my usage that has been proven to be the opposite.

My battery life hasn't noticeably changed with os3. It generally gets me through the day without a problem so it's not really an issue.

No, I have slightly worse battery life with 3.1 than I've typically had with all previous releases. I can now barely make it 24 hours whereas in the past I would make it 24 hours with 30%+ to spare.

I did have one or two days this week where the battery was magically very good, but overall, with my very consistent usage pattern, it's a bit worse on 3.1 than before.

My battery life seems a bit worse, not better, I've seen an uptick where the battery dies before the end of the day for some bizarre reason. Its not something that occurs consistently but quite randomly. The issue occurred rarely before OS 3, but its raised its ugly head a bit more (still somewhat rare) now under the latest version

My 42mm AW S0 has always lasted at least one day. With WOS3.1, the days I use the Workout App for a 60 minute outdoor run, it will be at 10% battery when I go to bed. On days I do not run, it will be anywhere between 60 - 70% at the end of the day. I am still not sure why it drains so quickly "after" using the Workout App, but the pattern has been consistent for the last couple of weeks.

Running watchOS 3.1.1 latest beta. Excellent battery life for me. Wearing since 6.30am today and now at 10.30pm it is at 49%

WatchOS 3 has been awful for battery. OS 2 was great for battery life. I used to get 2 and some (OS2) and now it's fewer than 2 days (OS3)

42 S0.

In bigger batteries with multiple cells the problem often is that when you reach 100% during loading, that does not necessarily equal "loading completely finished".

Instead, the battery management system needs more time (could be as much as another 1-3 hours) to harmonize state of charge level for all cells to make sure the actual voltage differences are as small as possible.

This is important because the cell reaching the (under-)voltage threshold first determines when battery safety mechanisms kick in and demand new charge.

Don't know about the AW battery, but this could be a reason there as well. If it still feels warm when you take it off the charger, the cell leveling probably wasn't finished yet and thus you will have a reduced battery time, no matter if the display says 100% battery (as that probably only refers to "one or a couple of cells have reached the maximum voltage, so continuing with slow loading to fill up the remaining cells to their max").

Wow. Excellent post. I learned something new. Thank you for sharing this.

Yes, I always leave the watch on the charger for a good hour after it reaches 100% so that trickle charging can complete.
However, I'm going to once again let it run right down to about 3% remaining then recharge overnight to see if it does what it did the last time I tried this method ~ a much longer battery performance.

What do you consider amazing? The most I have gotten out of mine is 2 days and that is only if I do not use the Workout App on one of the days.
I would consider 2 days amazing. I put my watch on the charging stand when I go to sleep and it's usually over half full after a day of use. Been wearing it for 6 hours now, battery at 89%. The watch has never died on me.

+1

The only time mine has died was when I did not charge it before a day of running with the Workout App.

After running this morning at 6:00 am, my 42mm S0 is sitting at 49% battery 12 hours later. It will easily make it until 11:00 pm, but it will not make it all day tomorrow, so I will put it on the charger tonight.

Am having the total opposite with my series 0 and wondering if it's because of a changeover to iPhone 7 and maybe a corruption along the way in restoring.

Has anyone who transferred their series 0 to a new iPhone getting the great battery life please?

Series 0 (v3.1, Build 14S471) transferred from 6+ to 7+, 86% after 8hrs today. Satisfied so far. Caveat: Few 3rd party apps, static watchface.
