The phones aren’t priced to horrible compared to everything else nowadays. They just didn’t add anything to it other than a speed bump and a camera app feature that few will use or care about. The X Max will see high sells due to it being a new version of the Plus model. But the Xs will be moderate.
But we are in the Watch thread. Stores will have some available for walk-ins. They always do, however launch day excitement things go quick. There is a lot of interest in the new watch compared to the phone.
I don’t care for smart watches as I prefer standard Swiss and less expensive Seiko watches.
I would think they would at least have a few. I'm considering trying it at my local Best Buy. The SS doesn't seem to be as popular because of the hefty increase in price, so perhaps that will work in my favor.
I want to try but I can't see them having any around at the Apple store near me. And then it will be a huge fight waiting in line with all the iPhone folks...

Because it was in my News Feed and the title said nothing about watches. I wondered why a watch was brought up in what I thought was an iPhone post.
Most stores *should* have at least some options in stock, they may not have every available Apple Watch option, it really depends on the store. I personally would not try to buy one on the 21st, but it really depends what model you're looking for and how early you are at the Apple store.
I’m looking at the app now and there are still some that say are launch day available. Search under “apple watch series 4.”
I'd be getting Space Black Stainless Steel Case with Space Black Milanese Loop cellular. Current delivery window is Oct 15-22nd. I have the series 3 version so I don't know if I want to spend the money on this one. I think I might be able to get $500 for my current watch to offset the cost. Haven't checked to see what it might be worth. Anyway, if I do go for it, I've thought about being at my local Apple Store early that morning to see if they have any in stock.
If anyone has knowledge of previous launch dates and when watches were available in stores that would be helpful. Specifically interested in whether SS models have lower stock as well.
They will undoubtedly be available to some extent on the 21st. The stores usually have lines for those for pre-order pickup and new sales. Demand may be a bit higher this time around as it's what I would deem a major revision.
Gotcha, I'll just call one week after they get them in stock and see what the inventory looks like; and keep calling periodically after that. Thanks for the heads up
My pre-order is 1-8 Oct but I have reserved my Xs Max for in-store upgrade on 21st. Hoping I can snag a watch earlier and hopefully an Xs Gold for my wife while I’m there.
