I got to be real with ya, i want to be excited, but i feel way more bored based on what we are rumored to get. I'm honestly not trying to troll or cause drama, I am genuinly curious because i just got a iPhone 14 Pro Max 256 in January after using my iPhone 11 pro max since launch, and i get not every year can there be a drastic upgrade or redesign but based off the rumors, I'm very Meh so far.

Like an action button seems cool i guess...and of course better cameras, (will it be able to do the moon test though like the Samsung phones can apparently do) and USB C is LONG overdue....

But in all honestly i am bored to tears of the standard phone format. I love foldables but they are super expensive, dont have IOS on them, questionable durability...but i really wish apple would put one out!

The idea of a tablet and a phone in all one device sounds amazing!

Adding USB C and a button with a slightly better processor and camera....meh! Oh and a Titanium frame...big deal.

I have the apple watch ultra and love that, (and i am still somewhat confused as to why we are getting a 2nd gen one so soon) but idk...

What are your thoughts? I'm curious to see what they announce but im not yet sold on a day one purchase if at all yet! I hope they change my mind!

No, not really interested unless they reveal something the rumors have singularly failed to do. Looks purely iterative (if the rumors are true) and the effort being put into hyping the new phone (based purely on rumors) is really annoying. Bottom line is that if you are on an older phone (iPhone XS or 11 or earlier) then it might be worth considering. But so far, if you are on a 12, 13 or 14 I would just sit around until you need a new phone, because what you have works well and the new phones do not add anything significant. (5G was added in the 12 so even that is not a reason to upgrade). Cynical, yes, but realistic and you should wait for something really new, not just putting a different socket on the phone, along with pointless camera spec. upgrades etc.

Yeah I’m even excited about new phones I’ll never buy, like some of the Chinese phones debuting recently or the Fairfield phone that isn’t sold or supported in the US. I like tech or I wouldn’t be here, usually every morning, with my coffee reading all the rumors. I don’t have to own or buy everything to get excited about it.

I’ve been dreaming of all this stuff since I was a little kid watching the original Star Trek, which debuted near my birthday. I watched home computing be invented and evolve to what we have now. It will never not be exciting to me.

Where a lot of people see stagnation, I see refinement and fine tuning. Eventually we probably will move away from the slab form factor to foldables or something else. But for now, I’m watching an evolution take place. Each stage, no matter how incremental, is of interest to me.

And it’s exciting because I’m watching something evolve that once existed only in the fiction of my childhood: a powerful computer that can connect a person with the whole world yet can fit in my hands. Hell yeah! I’m excited!

I’m not really sure what people expect when they make posts like this. What exactly do you want this phone to be? Phones peaked a long time ago and there’s really not a lot that can be added to make them radically different anymore. Why fix what’s not broken?

And no, foldables are awful. Why would apple release a phone with a freaking crease in the middle? Or a plastic screen?

I’m upgrading from my X for 1 reason, and that’s USB C. It’s the only device I still own that doesn’t support it

For me it is an off year for getting a new phone so I’m not very excited. Since the rumored fancy periscope camera is not in the Pro model I be waiting at least a couple more years anyway as I have a 14 Pro. I am interested just not excited

Was excited knowing that S23 series used Snapdragon in all markets and excited for the camera improvements that will be introduced in iPhone 15 Pro/Ultra series...

Right now, my primary device for photo and video is the iPhone 14 Pro Max while my Nikon D5500 DSLR camera will be the backup... Will shoot videos using the iPhone due to its 4K resolution and 24MP RAW + JPEG on the DSLR camera as well as 48MP RAW on iPhone main camera...

I'm probably feeling the least excited about an iPhone I have for years. Everything Apple does has become incremental, uninspiring, boring if you like. Of course it's a great platform and runs pretty flawlessly, but it doen't seem to float my boat any more. Maybe I will upgrade to the new Pixel 8 Pro and see if I miss Apple!

Not going to lie, the closer we get to the keynote the less excited I am. I am currently on the 13 Pro Max and over the past few weeks Ive been looking at it and it really is perfect. Battery holds well, performance is adequate. I really dont need to upgrade.

However, I know that once I watch that keynote on Sept 12th ill be hooked again lmaoo. Plus it makes it much easier when my carrier is probably going to give $1000 off with trade in of my 13 PM.

I guess we'll see

I don't expect myself to upgrade this year (marking a new record in how long I have been satisfied with keeping an older model) so naturally that tempers the excitement a bit. Interested to see what they have to present, of course.

I'll echo the sentiment that the product is just pretty mature at this point.

How can I be much of anything (beyond perhaps intrigued) for something unannounced?

Personally, titanium frame is a big upgrade (assuming it’s not polished) over stainless steel. All the rest I’d wait to see what Apple’s marketing tells me is of interest…

For additional features that may trickle down to other models going forward for 16/17 series, interested to see what is considered 'Ultra' beside the possibility of a substantially higher starting price from the Pro Max.

I think the price would start at £1849/$1999 with an additional colour only available for the Ultra.

Features:
- better cameras
- new display, setting it apart from the other Pros
- faster storage

To see what they have done with the Periscope lens yes, I found it very useful on my S23 Ultra (before I sold it).

I'm looking forward to it somehow becoming fatter, uglier, and heavier--and of course, more expensive.

If it'll have a great tele photo and a great macro photo lens, I'm interested. But that'll be the day.

Coming from an iPhone 12 PM, I can't wait. Much better camera, dynamic island, titanium body, USB C, better performance, better battery etc. Can't really ask for much more as Apple aren't really innovators, more like minor incrementors.
