If you have an M1 or M2 Air and are happy with the performance you don't need a new computer. If you have one and are not happy with the performance you are more than a casual user and probably don't want a Neo as your next Mac.

Definitely no lol. I have a 15" m2 air. I wanted the bigger screen. Mine's in really nice shape and still has at least a few years of life left in it. I use my desktops 99% of the time anyway. I usually use my laptop at my piano lol.

It's a shame we will never know how many Neos owned by kids need to be repaired or replaced because it didn't have MagSafe that one time it was needed.
I agree Magsafe would be nice, as I work in EDU.

USB-C ports so far in our 15,000 Chromebooks have not been an issue with breakage.

Most of our repairs are LCD screen breakage, keyboard keys picked off, hinges destroyed, and 3.5 mm jacks with broken off tips.

I'm not seeing the Neo as an upgrade with the M2. Doing some googling, it seems that the M1 MBA and Neo seems to offer similar speed processing wise
A case can be made for the M1 and neo being on the same level processing wise. From what I can gather multicore its about the same where as single core the neo is faster, however when you include the 50% slower drive speed, overall performance may feel a bit more sluggish then the M1 MBA

I love the Neo, but only FOMO would be an honest reason to change from my M2 MacBook Air. It would be foolish to do so and for the types of things that I do on my Air, I am not the target demographic. As I have said in other posts, I am thrilled that the Neo exists, and that the Mac is getting attention and making noise. The success of the Neo will make macOS more of a priority, I hope, and that is all I want. My M2 Air has exceeded all expectations in my transition to a laptop only life on the Mac as a previous iMac diehard. I will be going for the Pro in my next upgrade, after I see what the next generation brings.

I have a 13” M2 Air, 8/512, and I don’t see any respect in which the Neo is an upgrade.
i agree, especially for the m2 with the updated design, better screen and magsafe vs the m1. M1 could be an easier sell for a casual user that would notice the single core boost in speed and snappiness for daily browsing and light usage though

I was just using a friends maxed out M1 13" MBA (16/2TB) in Silver yesterday and wow I'd forgotten what a sexy piece of hardware that is.

It totally blows away the Neo in feel, fit, finish, "curb appeal" ... all of that.... while trading blows on performance.

I can't imagine trading an M1 MBA for a Neo.

Did you really feel the MBA being blown away?

I'm buying two new Macs when I upgrade from my M1 Air: the redesigned 16 inch MBP and the Neo.

So the real upgrade is the MBP, but I'm still buying a Neo as a small travel laptop.
