I have a 09 imac, i5 cpu, 1tb hard drive, and 8 gb ram. The warranty will expire this month and I wanted to know if it's worth it to pay for the apple care or not. I always keep apple care on my macbooks but that's mostly because they are moved around a lot and more prone to failure/heat issues. The Imac has never given me a problem and has always been in the same spot. Is it even worth it to get the apple care for it now?

I have a personal philosophy of "If it has a built-in display and costs over $1,200 then Apple Care might be a wise investment".

Yes your '09 iMac may not experience issues now or ever but do keep in mind that there are people who post issues that they begin to experience in iMacs that are slightly older than yours. I also wanted to add that when ever I go to an Apple retail store that I do see people bring in white Core 2 iMacs for service now and again...

Of course it's worth it! Get yourself another two years peace of mind.

Look at it this way, if that bad boy needs a screen or logic board repair in the next two years you're gonna be kicking yourself if you dont! :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I was not sure because in my experience, most electronics break down in the first 3 months of use. I guess paying a little over 100 bucks now is better than replacing a screen or logic board later.

I've purchased 12 Macs (5 iMacs) in the past 6 years for myself and family and only one (an iMac as it happens) needed a repair that was covered under AppleCare. As scary as the thought of needing a repair in day 366 that costs more than the computer is worth, I would be money ahead if I never bought AppleCare for any computer!
