Just wanted to see what you guys think about this.

A console to compete with the 360, PS3, and next gen consoles... sweet!

Yup, it competed with the PS1, Sega Saturn and N64. The fact hardly anybody has heard of it shows how well it did :p

that thing was, like many apple products, ahead of its time. people just werent interested/didnt know what or how it would improve their nerdy lives.

Gaming consoles are normally sold at a break-even point or loss because the manufacturers want to make money off the games. Therefore, Apple would have to develop games AND hardware as all three of the console makers do. Nintendo owns the broad market in this generation of consoles, while Microsoft and Sony duke it out for the "real" gamers. There isn't a market not covered by those three companies. Apple will continue with pushing the iPod touch and iPhone as game devices, but don't expect anything more.

Crap in one hand and wish in the other. See which one fills up faster. That should give you your answer.

I don't think Apple will release a gaming console... and I hope they don't.

No, they're not. Have you seen how saturated the market already is?

This isn't the phone market, this is a market based off software and low hardware costs.
I can't see today's Apple doing so. Especially with their gaming pedigree.

I would say that Apple will never release another stand alone gaming system, considering how well the Pippin didn't do. That plus the gaming market is really stiff, look how Microsoft has struggled. However, that's not to say that the iPod Touch and iPhone won't become serious contenders to the DS and PSP, even though that's not their main focus.

An over-priced gaming console in a market that is already quite established and saturated? Yeah no thanks

I hope they never will. I think it'd dilute their commitment to computers.

As proven by their completely new design for their laptop systems.

Design that robs the computers of potential power.

Where's the dedicated graphics in the MacBook? Where's the 9700M in the MacBook Pro?

People keep going with the Pipin argument but considering a very small handful of games where made for it along with no adversising it seems to me it was just more a proof of concept and never intended to be mass produced or even do well.

So it not like the Pippin failed it was just apple never did anything with it.

....errrrrr yeah, no thanks I think I'll stick to a real hand held gaming device!

......wututalkingboutwillis?! what's APPLE doing to the mini?! :(

Funny thing you should say that, cuz I NEVER saw any type of advertising for the console what's so ever, not even in gaming magz!!
