So I'm upgrading to the iPhone 7 Plus when it comes out and I'm wondering if the "Apple iPhone Installments" option when purchasing a new iPhone are the same as the "Verizon Device Payment Plan." Are these payments through apple or with Verizon (or the chosen carrier)? Can anyone clear this up? Thanks.

They are different programs with different details.
One is by Apple and the other one is by your carrier that includes the payments in your phone bill.
Thank you for the info. Looks like I'll be preordering with Verizon then.

Is it really though? When I bought my wife's 6S last year we did the installment plan and it just got tacked on to our Verizon bill, not a separate payment to Apple.

Did you buy it through Apple directly or through Verizon?

The difference is one is from apple directly and one is from Verizon. Also it's important to note that if you have a newer plan Verizon will give you x ammount of $$ towards the device payment. Also the Apple Store will offer you Verizon device payment, you don't need to go threw Verizon to get Verizon device payment.

This is what I was wondering, if you can do Verizon payments through Apple. Is this possible online (for when I preorder)?

I bought it at an Apple Store, but as another poster said I guess Apple can just bill you through your phone carrier for the phone.

No, Apple does not bill you through your cellphone bill.
Their program is separate than your carriers monthly bill.
What other posters are saying is they signed up for their carriers payments plan at an Apple store.
Get it?

So, you can sign up for your carrier's installment plans in store but not online it seems. Got it, will pre order with Verizon. Unless of course I "reserved" via pre-order my iPhone 7 Plus in store and bought it there on launch day, where I could use the Verizon installments.

No....my cousin works at Apple as a genious and he says this isn't possible.

Anyone have experience with preordering the new iPhone with Verizon? Is it a decent process? Do you get it on launch day if you order in time?

What would I select then? I don't seem to see that as an option. They have the Apple installment plan, Apple annual upgrade plan, full price, or contract.
AT&T offers their device payment plan (NEXT) via Apple online and in retail stores. Verizon only allows their device payment plan (EDGE) via Apple retail stores.

In general, going through Apple Store is your best bet to get the device right away. That said, I don't think demand will be as high as it was with the 6/6+ so pre-ordering through Verizon is probably fine.

Personally, I'd rather opt for Apple financing to get the unlocked version with all LTE bands.

So as long as demand isn't as high, I should be able to get my 7 Plus on launch day through Verizon? or do they have a history of issues on launch day preorders? (I've never preordered an iPhone before so I don't know this stuff)

Yes you should be able to. I have done pre-orders for the iPhone before.
