Instead of complaining here, the OP needs to put this on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Al Jazerra, or any other news/media outlet so Apple bashing can continue.

What a nonsensical thread. I'd have more empathy to your plight if you were an individual with a single phone that was trying to get some resolution. Instead, you bombard Apple with countless used iPhones wanting them to get repaired so you can resell them.

What's wrong with that?!. As long as the iphone is faulty and not tampered with, Apple should fix it whether it was 1 or 100 phones.

So, you feel it's Apple's responsibility to fix every iPhone that crosses their desk?

At some point, maybe Apple says "enough".

Finally, the OP never says anything about paying Apple for these repairs....it sounds like they just want the phones repaired so they can resell them. It would be another thing completely if the OP offered to pay Apple whatever it costs to get the phones repaired and Apple refused.

I'm not an electrical engineer by any stretch, but those parts do look tampered with. The flex cable also has a glob of something on it that appears to be from sloppy SOMETHING, and one thing Apple is NOT known for is sloppy work like that.

I dunno, but even if it wasn't, it hardly rises to the level of "corruption" because they denied repairs.

It looks to me like they had good reason to, and I am only looking at the photos you provided (for all I know there could be more).

Even if you don't open the phone, it's possible someone else did before it got to you. Just another reason to always buy a facotry sealed one!

I Have no problem paying for a repair that was caused by accidental damage. I pay them 130$ for LCD repairs all the time. If a phone comes with a years warranty whats the problem with apple honoring it ? The Major problem here is that they didn't say pay X amount they said the were "Tampered" and refused service. The number one question here is why exactly have i been denied service. That is what im trying to get to the bottom of. These images, they took their time to scan this whole board to find something to use as an excuse . These images are magnified maybe about 10X or more you don't see things like this with the naked eye those parts are usually covered with a shield that holds down the battery connector.

Some one posted an original photo of a board in a post that's not Tampered from the factory take a look.

Any tech that works at the genius bar is just that - a tech. Not an engineer.  employees do not touch the logic board on phones under any circumstance. That is a part they cannot service in store and would require a full unit replacement.

Now, SINCE the Galleria scandal in South Florida, most retail stores are tracking down repeat customers. When I say repeat customers I mean people who bring in multiple phones at the same time multiple times in a month.

When they notice the trend at that point a manager will come up to you a deny service because they believe you are tampering with the devices. In any case,  Retail is there to support the consumer - not resellers.

They will continue to deny you service in the future because they know you resell devices. Your only option at that point would be to replace devices through AppleCare.

And yes, stores will communicate with each other market wide for scenarios like these.

EDIT: And yes, they do open up internal investigations on employees to see if there is a pattern.

because it sounds like you buy dead phones from fleabay and other sources and a lot of them seem to be dead because of user error like trying to fix something they shouldn't have tried fixing and breaking it

Absolutely not Charadis. In fact all of these phones either had software issue with restoring such as Error 1, Error 43, A faulty power button but yet apple Techs insist on them being tampered in almost the same spot that has nothing to do with the issue. I have about 50 Cases with same ''Tampered'' Area. Out of about 10,000 phones that were good. For people saying so few phones don't work. Ive Pulled many brand new phones out of the box that don't work. Take a look at your average apple store why are their genius bars so busy and backed up with appointments. And if you guys don't believe apple employees are crooked take a look at this article -

http://miami.cbslocal.com/2014/08/1...one-theft-ring-operating-in-mall-apple-store/

That article tells the public what they need to know but if your not narrow minded think about it and you would understand what they were really doing. Open your minds guys !

Huh, the article says that if enough employees collude, they can get away with illegal, shoddy business practices until the man comes to get them.

How much you putting on the table

From ifixit
I phone 5s Logic board resistors are those above the far right bottom connector which is where the batter connects.

Okay i didn't realize this was a 5s. Here's a higher res picture from ifixit: https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/rFPZoZIfPPHB5wjL

You can clearly see the "foreign material" around the resistors is present from the factory. Looks to be dried flux or something.

Now that you've pointed it out, my guess is that the SMDs could have been altered during installation or removal of the battery. The battery connector snaps into place in the socket, and an additional metal guard is installed over the connector, possibly for reinforcement. That is just my guess, as I've previously worked on side projects repairing iPhones. Sent from my iPad.
