Hi,

I am about to buy my first AW and would like to know if the screen brightness is an issue at 498 nits for most situations. I have the 6s+ and it is rated at 450 nits. I don't think it's a big deal but just want to ask AW1 users if this is an issue?

Also, is the S1p chip slower than S2. I heard they are same and GPU speed is identical. I don't need GPS.

Is AW2 worth an extra $100 if I don't need GpS or waterproof?

I have the original watch. I'm not upgrading right now. I haven't seen a new one, but I feel like mine is bright enough. Also, when I use the watch for hikes, etc I usually have my phone in my pocket so don't need the stand alone GPS right now. If I was buying for the first time I would probably get the 2, but will upgrade when the next one rolls around.

Thanks. The main two reasons I want it are for:

- notifications. i subscribe to a breaking news notification system and get upwards of 100 notifications a day. It's a chore pulling my phone out each time to see the notification

- i would like to track my heartbeat during walking. gps not necessary as i always have 2 iphones on me.

btw, can you pair the watch with two phones. one is for work and i would like to get text/email notifications from both.

Not sure if it can be paired to two phones. I know since IOS 10 you can have 2 WACHES paired to the same phone, which wasn't possible before.

Notifications and the activity app are the two main things I use. I love my watch :)

The Apple Watch Series 2 is infinitely more visible in direct sunlight. As a runner, I want to be able to glance at the watch and see me stats clearly. For me that was a problem with the original AW, but not at all with the Series 2. Well worth it for me.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up getting the apple series 1 and love it. Bright enough that I have not noticed any readability issues in any situations. I'm sure the AWS2 is brighter but for me I have had no issues. BTW, love the ability to say "hey siri" upon wake feature.
