Honestly, i always do put apple applecare plus on all my ios devices. Just because right when new ones come out, i can get my old ones exchanged under accidental warranty and give them as a gift to my relatives and close friends.

Plus it is always a piece of mind :)

I guess the "Plus" version of the Apple Care covers accidental damage, then? How do you trick them in believing the older device suffered some damage when you obviously can't prove it?

Break the screen, submerge it underwater? You name it sir. They'll swap it for you. This is how i trick 'them'

Just trying to see if someone can give me a reason to get it or some other reason I do not need to spend the money. Once I buy it, there will be a Life Proof case waiting to protect it from all things Bad.

If ur putting a lifeproof on it I wouldn't. I bought it for mine and the same model, but I just use the smart case and don't worry about drops etc Bc it'll be covered. By why spend $130 on a case and apple care?

That sounds like abusing the warranty to me. Do you have a link toward the "Plus" version of Apple Care?

AppleCare+ does not include willful or intentional conduct.

http://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/applecareplusnaen.html

ADH coverage only applies to an operational or mechanical failure caused by an accident from handling that is the result of an unexpected and unintentional external event (e.g. drops and liquid contact) that arises from your normal daily usage of the Covered Device as intended for such Covered Device. ADH coverage does not include (a) protection against normal wear and tear, theft, misplacement, reckless, abusive, willful or intentional conduct associated with handling and use of the Covered Device.

If u have acplus just sell it with it. It sells for more cuz people know they got accidental replacements

You're suggesting that the only thing that could happen to an iPad is physical damage. The warranty also covers defects. You didn't forget that it's a computer did you? It CAN have issues with the logic board, screen, buttons stop working and the like and this all can happen after the included one year warranty. I will say this, Apple bends over backwards for customers who have AppleCare.

Well then at that point you're paying $99 for just one extra year of warranty. I would think the main reason people buy it is for the accidental damage that covers you both years. If you're buying solely on the buttons not working, the first year is free. Seems pointless to pay $99 for just one extra year.

Charge it to American Express or Discover and you can get the extra year warranty for free. Some Visa and MasterCard also offers extended warranty but it's not across the board.

Don't have either one. I'm smart with my money. I don't deal with credit card companies and Amex is the most dangerous one.

So u can't be smart with ur money if you have a credit card??

Something bad must have happened in the past

Last I checked, my Amex, Discover and Visa credit cards all have this.
Coverage depends on the tier (Platinum, World, World Elite, Signature, etc) of the card and the specific creditor.

Is Applecare worth it for an iPad Air 128GB LTE
As always with warranty/insurance questions it's a subjective matter regardless of the product in question. You need to determine if it's worth it to you. We can't tell you. It's worth it for some and not worth it for others.

I have never bought AppleCare on anything I have ever bought. Anything that has gone wrong went wrong long after the AppleCare would have expired such as on my 2010 white MacBook. I think AppleCare is a waste of money.

On the MacBook, the battery swelled last summer pushing the trackpad up through the palm rest breaking pieces of the palm rest.

Yes I understand but just curious of the Apple defect rate on the iPad Air? I will protect mine with a great case, but wondering what a repair would cost in year 2 without AC for an Air 128GB with AT&T LTE

iPad Air out of warranty repair is $299 regardless of model.

If you are only planning to keep it for a year, skip it and hope that case never falls. But if you are planning to keep it a year or two get it. It's $99 and even if you have to use the two damage replacements that is $197 total, $100 cheaper than one out of warranty swap if it takes a dump at 366 days. Yes they are that strict about those days, particularly since you could have gotten the extension

If u get ac plus it'll be easier to sell if u want to later on. It'll sell for more, and easier. Along with the added protection, I think it's worth it.

As someone who hates the bulk of cases and not to mention their absurd price tag.. I decided to purchase AppleCare+ for my Air. I figured $100 is a little over the price of a great case (those things can go from 30-70$!!) and the $70 replacement fee is a helluva lot cheaper than a new iPad.

I now use my iPad naked with no fear of breaking it - $70 isn't exactly chump change but I figure the pleasure of using it naked is worth the $70 gamble.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the replacement fee for the iPad stay at $49? I think just the iPhone went up?

I got AC+ for my 128gb cellular Air. I also got it on Next, right before they stopped doing that. Still considering if I will upgrade when the new one's come and waste Y2 of AC+ - guess it depends on how much they cram into the next iPad.

Question for you guys: Lets say for example I buy an iPad air today and decide NOT to buy any form of AppleCare. And lets say after the one year period ends something happens to my iPad. Can I just pay the out of warranty repair cost and get a new one, despite the fact I never purchased AppleCare?

Like a similar poster above, I've gambled not buying AC in the past and now I would still be coming out ahead if I did have to pay the OOW replacement cost.

Yes, you can pay the out of warranty repair cost and get a refurbished replacement even if you never purchased AppleCare.
