Just an observation, it’s funny to me how we expect these cell phone manufacturers to revolutionize every new iteration of their phones, when auto makers literally will put out the same car year after year and call it the new year model lol.

Apple is no different than Samsung or any other smart phone brand. They make small improvements every year.

You can’t go by posts on here as to what people want in real life. People in this form are not a representation of the general public.

When you live outside in the real world, you see and hear about all the amazing things Chinese brands are doing with innovation and pushing things forward in mobile devices.

Then you see Apple release the same phone for 6 years straight, advertise its main feature that won't be fully available for at least a year to most and then not release it on launch, keep adding pointless gimmick buttons which goes against everything the iPhone was meant to stand for.

I think they deserve every single bit of criticism.

Standing outside fifth avenue store clapping like seals like they've just cured cancer.

The criticism is absolutely fair when it comes to Apple Intelligence. There's just no excuse considering WWDC and the launch presentation, and their advertising. It's unacceptable that the phones are launched without the full set of features that may or may not be available spring 2025.

Any other company would get unanimously roasted and criticized. Unfinished products launch all the time. But this one is on another level.

The rhetoric from such criticism is often skewed and not representative of the typical user. MR has some real fanatics who want to upgrade every year and expect Apple to cater to their want of change for the sake of change.

I can agree on this point. Often when I’m watching car reviews, they will say a certain version of this car will be coming later in the year., but what ever they are reviewing is mostly intact as a whole. But there are rare cases it does happen like when Tesla announced full self driving cars or other car brands saying something will come later in a software update. I guess that’s the good thing and bad thing about our cars becoming more computerized. Yes they can be upgraded in the future via software but at the same time we could receive a product that’s less finished.

I mean for me the biggest issue is the Apple intelligence stuff. They brag about how this phone is built for it and all that but the features arent available at launch. And that as become a common occurrence for Apple, that some of the biggest features of the product, isn’t released at launch.

They were up front about the fact that a lot of the AI features wouldn't be released until subsequent iOS updates, there have been a million articles about it all over the internet. Anybody who bought a new phone knew that going in, and if it was an issue they shouldn't have bought it.

I’m well aware of it. The point I was making, is it’s a common occurrence. This is far from the first time they haven’t released a major feature/selling point of a device with the device. Kudos to them for announcing it and making it well known, even if it was done just to protect theirselves. I’m being completely upfront when I say, it’s hilarious and somewhat embarrassing to constantly release a product without its main features.

Also, I don’t care that they’re not there. I am an Apple fan. I’m not trying to slam them or say they suck. But I’m also not an Apple apologist and am capable of calling out their shortcomings, which lately seem to be getting more and more common.

I think people would complain even more, if the phones arrived late.

If you want you can wait with the purchase until the feature is finished. Others prefer to get the phone earlier.

Huawei = adds satellite voice calling with SMS, mechanical aperture, tri-fold phone

Apple = adds a button

Nobody expects a revolution each year, but when you're a $3.5T company, people expect more than adding a button.

We buy new phones a lot more often, so the pace of improvement needs to be faster.
