Any performance downgrade? Does nvme-adapter upgrades works fine for Big Sur?

I'm running Big Sur 11.2.3 on my 2017 5k iMac with no issues. But I don't know about using 3rd party nvme with the NVMe adapter part.

Unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade, I'd suggest you "stay put" for the time being.

Suggestion:
If you really want to experiment with BS, get an EXTERNAL drive (SSD or HDD), and install a "test copy" of BS onto the external drive.
This way, you can try things out, without disturbing your internal drive as it is now...
