I removed biteSMS and installed Messages+ and noticed a huge difference with my battery. It seems to me that biteSMS was draining my battery big time.

    What do you guys think?

I had it on a 4s and it drained my battery quickly. It could have been because I had the free version with ads.

I've heard iStat for iOS shows it's a battery killer. But, I don't pay attention.

I have used bitesms on 3 differen phones and I personally don't think it's a battery killer. I used both the free version and the paid version with no battery problems on my end

No battery life impact with or without BiteSMS.

Coincidental != causal. You're probably overlooking some other difference or you're unaware of some other change.

I find this hard to believe.

It's almost impossible to isolate the drain to BiteSMS. Many long-time forum users here swear by BiteSMS, including myself, and I've never seen this issue. It's not a resource heavy app and functions like the native messages app.

I would confirm you are on the latest iOS (6.1) and that any other tweak, app or services (location, screen brightness, bluetooth) are not causing the issue.

    Calibrate your battery too!

I'm going to vote no as well.. you can try the free version yourself and see.. you can always uninstall it.. for most of us BiteSMS is a must have tweak. So we must like it. ;)

Lets see how it plays on my i5.
Im positive if it drained battery that fast with everyone the Bite dev team would have addressed the issue. Those guys really stay on top of their software and work day and night fixing small and big bugs and release tons of betas to address and test every device and configuration possible. I got lots of faith in them.
It might be something else installed or a conflict that causes that battery drain in some cases.

Battery Drain on iPhone 4 (6.1.2)

    I'm definitely having battery issues.

My iPhone 4 (6.1.2) was down to 30% maybe 4-5 hours after taking it off the charger the other day. That's unheard of for me. The night before, I installed BiteSMS and changed my Springboard theme -- I since went back to my original theme -- but made no other changes. So I'd say there's a really really good chance that BiteSMS is causing the drain.

Restarting/rebooting/respringing/killing open applications seems to fix the drain temporarily, but the problem comes back.

I'm on the unlicensed version, but I'm still in the trial period so there are no ads.

    Any ideas?

The main difference is what else you guys are running alongside biteSMS.

I haven't installed the heap of crap that is winterboard - as THAT drains resources.

    I have:
    BiteSMS
    f.lux
    NCSettings
    Fastblurrednotificationcenter

and the battery is the same as it's always been.

Everyone here that is having problems seems to be on an iPhone 4. I'm betting the real problem is that you guys are on a phone that is almost 3 years old (if you got around release day).

After around only a year I always start to notice my battery in my phones degrading and getting shorter and shorter life. My old iPhone 4 had horrid battery life and it wasn't even jailbroken at that point anymore. I replaced the battery in it and got an extra few hours of life out of it! Now my roommate is using it and loves it.

I also have around 20 tweaks installed on my iPhone 5 including BiteSMS and other "battery killers" and I am getting amazing battery life. It has taken me a while to get all the tweaks I love that don't interfere with each other.

Just some food for your thoughts.

I couldn't imagine biteSMS being the batterythief - I'm having some problems with my battery but I suspected Zephyr for that. So , I got rid of it.
