Honestly?

You're never going to be able to have the latest and greatest phone for that long. Maybe if you only care about iPhones, but I mean, I see threads all the time where people ask if they should get the 5 now, or wait for the 5s, or get the S4, or the HTC One, or the Nexus 4, or the Optimus G, or the Note 3, etc etc

There are almost endless options. It's 2013, phones are coming out all the time, and there's always a new, awesome, flagship phone just around the corner. Hell, Google announced the unlocked, stock google Galaxy S4 mere weeks after the original version came out.

My advice: get the phone you want when you want it. If you want the 5, get it now. If you'd really, honestly go back to a broken, older iPhone just to wait 4 months to buy the (likely marginally improved) iPhone 5s, then do it. I'll be enjoying my iPhone 5 while you're waiting :)

enough i cant wait ...... getting iPhone 5 tomorrow

no iPhone will come before September and will be launched in my country by November
that's 6 months
cant stand my Galaxy Note more :?

I decided I'd rather be eligible during the major releases, rather than the 's' line. Went and upgraded to the 5 today. I'm happy. Now time to sell my 4s ...

I have just bought an iPhone 5 and I'm having buyer's remorse. I forgot that the 5S will be coming out in a few months and feel like I should have just waited. Should I take the 5 back and stick it out with my broken (screen cracked and lock button non functional) iphone 4 for a few months? Should I get the iPhone 5 now and just sell it when he 5S comes out?

I'm on tmobile if that matters.

If you believe the rumors, the 5S will be the same form factor as the 5 and will basically just have a better camera(13 mpx) and a fingerprint scanner. If those two things are important to ya, sure...return the 5 and wait. I'm waiting. I dont care about the fingerprint tech, But I use it for travel photography, so I really want the improved camera. ;-)

If it was any other phone I'd say yeah, but the iphones seem to hold their value ridiculously well for resale, even after the new models come out. I'll bet a 16gb 5 will still get $400-$450 on CL after the 5S comes out, maybe more I'm not sure. So worst case you will spend $200-$250 to buy a full retail 5S. As someone who just got an ip5 about a month ago I'm ok with that, by the time the ip5s comes out I will have 3-4 months of use out of my ip5 and that was worth the couple of hundred bucks. Especially if you are going to be using a phone with a cracked screen and non functional lock button.

Totally agreed. Why bother using a broken old phone for 4 months? Treat yourself right if you can afford it without too much difficulty.

I can't wait to put iOS 7 on my iPhone 5! Looking forward to enjoying it on the full screen. I'll have no problem waiting out the 5s to then be eligible for the 6.

I think that we should wait for iPhone 6 releases, then we can buy iPhone 5G. Because iPhone 5 will not have more support at that time.
