I got my iPad Pro 10.5” for $590 from swappa and vary happy with it saved me a lot of $

Old thread, however, purchasing anything on-line or on eBay or any other website, just make sure you research the seller, ask questions if you are unsure about the product and check for responsiveness from the seller. And make sure you understand the stipulations of the websites guidelines for buying and selling.

I’ve bought two iPhones from them and had great experiences and I also sold one as well. They’re good to go with me

i usually meet the seller at their neighborhood Verizon store
liking the iPhone7 red, should be a recent purchase.

Has worked Better than ebay or Craigslist
Also a good place to sell

I would rather use craigslist and have the money in hand versus sell on eBay. Far greater risk with fraud on eBay and favoring the buyer over the seller with PayPal. Lots of threads discussing what has happened to honest sellers on eBay.

Bought and sold many phones and other things on swappa. Never had one issue.

Got my iphone Max recently
No problem except seller listed the phone in mint condition and it’s not. Seller agreed to refund a portion back.

Purchased 8 plus on Swappa recently and no issue so far.... but I have heard of stories of people having their phone blacklist after purchasing it from Swappa. Months later, the phone was blacklisted.

That happened to me once, where someone sold me a pristine item and it was _not_ pristine, fortunately the seller was very reputable and decided to accept the item back and refunded me in full. That’s why when I anything I sold in the past, I include detailed photos showing all angles, and if somebody lists something in pristine condition, it better be. And even if you’re not sure, I usually always request extra photos, which a reputable seller should acknowledge.

There's always a chance a buyer rips you off on these services. I would buy from swappa but I wouldn't sell. I've lost over 1700 on a laptop when the buyer reverse the return on me before and learned that hard lesson.

I recently had a bad experience with Swappa. Purchased an iPhone X that seller described as "unopened, new and never activated" when I received the phone I checked the IEMI before I activated it and showed it was being currently financed. I contacted the seller and he said he was not aware it was being financed and refused to refund me. I contacted Swappa staff and they agreed the seller violated the terms and told the seller to issue a return and refund but seller insisted it was not financed when he made the listing and says he did nothing wrong. I ended up having to file a dispute with Paypal and i finally got my money back about a month later.

Swappa has been perfectly safe for me. I've done over 30 transactions on Swappa selling and buying with not a single issue. Just keep in mind, I am also careful who I buy from too, as I make sure they have good feedback and I don't buy from someone who has zero.

There is no way you bought a phone on Swappa that is financed. That is checked by their system before you can put it up forsale. I have had mine denied because I didn't wait another day for the wireless carrier system to update after the phone was paid off.

How are you going to tell me there no way I got a financed phone from Swappa. I know its not SUPPOSED to happen but it did. I purchased phones from there before and never had a problem until this time. The seller must have put in a clean IMEI number to pass the check system then shipped out a different (non clean) device.

Their system checks the wireless carriers system to see if the phone is financed with the IMEI #. Unless he didn't put that phones IMEI number in there, it couldn't have worked.

And there it is, this is the exact problem websites like Swappa are facing that they can’t counteract, because what will happen is, the seller will put a ‘clean’ IMEI number in, but that is *not* the phone that there actually shipping, the phone that they ship will have a different IMEI number, but still have the same color and storage when the buyer receives it. This is exactly why I will not buy iPhones online from anyone for anything, Way too many risks associated.

Lol yah posted experiences that. There’s holes in their system. And there’s a chance you can get ripped off from buyers. Shoot I can buy and iPhone, then file a PayPal claim that the phone is detective. Then file a ups tracking and ship an empty box to the seller and get a refund that way. And I get to keep a phone. Not saying I’d do that but that’s what a buyer did to me. While I could have called police in Dallas or file a complaint. I didn’t given that I don’t have the time to invest in that type of work for $1700. I wrote it off as a loss.

I would use my credit card with PayPal. So I can file a charge back on two avenues. I’m ok with buying on eBay or swappa using this method.

Swappa is just a person to person market place similar to amazon or eBay but a little bit better quality standards when posting, like posting pics with screen name and no damaged devices. But the more people it becomes the more it becomes a bedrock for scammers. It will happen unfortunately. You can minimize the risk but the risk will always be there when buying from regular people and not corporate companies.

Heck my mom got a iPhone se on swappa but the screen wasn’t an original Apple screen. (The quality was far below oem). The seller was good enough to refund it but again, the seller claimed it was a great condition phone, but no mention of having an an aftermarket screen that’s not been calibrated by Apple.
