I've heard the 6D is a very good camera, so I'd consider that one as well. Unless of course, I am horribly mistaken :p

there is no such thing as a 6D

haha more like a typo

heres my new beast! Side by side with the 450D(Kiss X2)

I bought the 18-135 before buying the 7D(a year before) and then i realized it was the standard kit to 7D. I already saved up enough for 1 L lens. Still deciding based on what range i need most.

Looking back through your photos, what focal lengths do you tend to shoot? Do want to replace what you have or do you want something to supplement it? Seriously consider the 70-200 f/4L. At $700 it is the absolute best bang for the buck L glass out there. I think a 3 lens quiver that will never let you down on a crop is the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, Canon Ef-s 17-55 f/2.8 and Canon 70-200 f/4L.

If you want to replace what you have with a similar range the 24-105 f/4L would be a good option. I just didn't think it was wide enough for a walk around lens on a crop.

my photos?

I know i need macro lens and fixed lens. I'm planning to go with the base line 50 1.8 for the fixed. The 70-200 is also something I'm considering but if i go with 70-200, i would just go with 2.8(no IS) not 4, i've compared both and that wider aperture really does it for me. I'm not looking to replace yet as my 18-135 still does the job, for now. Tamron has a 10-24 f/3.5 which i'll be going in to the shop to try next week.

I also forgot to mention that i still have a 70-300 f/4-5.6 which is really bad.

my photos?

I simply meant if you were replacing your 18-135 it may be useful for you to go back through your pictures and see where you were shooting mostly. If the majority of your photos were in the wider angle end compared to the longer end it would help decide which way to go with what L lens to get.

I find on a crop the 50 1.8 isn't ideal. I shoot my 35 f/2 and 85 f/1.4 way more than my nifty-fifty. Honestly I can't tell you the last time it was on my 7D. If I had a FF I would agree but not for a crop (my $.02).

And for the 70-200, I found with the good ISO performance of todays cameras the f/4 was plenty for me. I actually sold my 70-200 f/2.8 IS (first generation) and bought the f/4 non IS. Saved me dough, saved me weight and I'm always outside when shooting with it.

Anyway, enjoy the camera!

Thanks for the recommendations anyways. I'll be going into the shop next week and they have a wide variety of lens for me to try. My style is candid photography.

Looks like I'll be getting a 10-22 and a 40 f/2.8

70-200 will be bought later.

I have a 7D and love it! It's a very capable camera! And there upgrading the firmware with a slew of new features in August as a free download. For the price, you can't beat it in my opinion.

7D is indeed an excellent crop body. It is still Canon's best crop body going forward (1DIV is being discontinued). Can't wait for the software update in August!

But when it was time to shoot a landscape or other static target, I would always grab my 5DII instead of the 7D. If you shoot both, you understand. Look at the credits in photo mags and compare how many landscape shots are with 7D vs. 5DII. 5DII continues to be an excellent body for studio and landscape work. For me it is not until I swapped 5DII for 5DIII that I got one body that can do both static subjects and action shots very well.
