i have been using an iPad Pro 9.7 and it is very laggy when doing almost everything in Chrome, is this common?

Chrome on iOS almost feels too smooth for me. That sounds weird and it's hard to explain, but I just prefer how Safari scrolls.

I never use Safari but I tried it and it was way better

on iphone & ipad, i had avoided chrome initially because safari was buttery smooth compared to chrome (i think i got on iOS around iOS 5).

then somewhere around late iOS 8 / early iOS 9, safari started having issues with loading pages during scrolling (you know, that issue with blank white space while scrolling down a page and takes a second before it loads that content). so at that point I gave chrome another shot and turns out they had worked on a lot of the issues and was a lot smoother. And on the ipad pro, it FLIES.

now on iOS 10, looks like they fixed the safari scrolling issue so i use chrome / safari about 50-50

(btw, if chrome still appears laggy for you, try clearing its cache every once in awhile. it can get a bit...bloated)

It was laggy from the first day of install

I don;t know about laggy, but Chrome is noticeably slower on any iPad I have (12.9 Pro, 9.7 Pro, and mini 4). I find Chrome on the desktop to be great, but lags behind Safari on the iPad.

I don't use chrome but I loaded it on my iPad Pro 12.9. Didn't seem laggy, not as fast as safari scrolling through macrumours forums but not jerky or anything. Removed it now though.
