Is Dark Sky worth the purchase?

I think it is very accurate! I've had it for a week now and 3 times it told me when it was going to start raining and bam! It was right within a couple minutes. Once right at the exact minute. Pretty cool. And when it says it will be light rain for an hour. It's usually just about right. I am a weather guy so I think it's worth the money. But I agree. If you live in CA and don't get much rain then this app might not be worth it to you

For the watch app portion no, the watch app sucks. The push notifications and functions are great but you don't need to load it onto the watch to get that

If I were buying today I'd buy weather nerd

Darks sky powered with a way better watch app. Downside is it's like $3 a year.

As far as dark sky goes, the glances are ugly and varebones. It can't eeplace even the built in weather fkr forecast etc.

I'm currenty using Radarcast elite for a weather app on the watch and have dark sky sending me notifications about rain efc.

Radarcast Elite also does the prediction but it's nowhere near as accurate. Imo however the app allows a radar view on phone and does all the forecast stuff.

Here's the Radarcast glance - I've requested they add high and low to the upper right

Here's the info when you open the app on watch.

It says it's only available in the US, UK and Ireland.
I live in The Netherlands, so it won't work I guess? Can somebody confirm?

I really like Dark Sky on the iPhone but even on the watch with the glance. Sounds like with O/S 2.0 you can use complications from other apps so I would like to see if Dark Sky can be one of my complications and it looks good. I like getting the morning weather information for the day and rain/snow updates. We get plenty of both here!

Dark Sky is a great app: for many/most, knowing the weather for the next hour is most important.
The Watch extension is imperfect, but will only get better with the onset of WatchOS 2 and time to improve it.

It's among my most-used apps, iPhone & Watch; I paid $2 for it early on and wouldn't hesitate to pay $4 for it now.

I bought this app recently and the glance often will take over a minute to load (not an exaggeration). Sometimes it doesn't even load at all. Purchased due to clean interface and primarily because I run a lot -- and don't want to get stuck in the rain too far from home.

snow.... ha ha ha ha!) i wish!

Hey not sure what part of Socal you're in but I've been in San Diego when it was humid and some parts got really heavy rain with the canyon flash flooding and some got snow in the nearby mountains. Oh and the news had reported one area got hail. And I had been told San Diego always had consistent perfect weather. Much of California has micro climates because of the ocean, mountains and lake/bay regions. Not as bad fluctuations as Florida for example where it could rain off an on depending where the clouds were at the moment. Hated those sometimes daily brief downpours when I'd be on vacation.

DS is one of the apps I'm considering adding for my watch so interesting to see what people here are saying about it. Right now we're in a drought but we have had unexpected but brief rainfall lately too. Thunder and lightning just last week. Does DS address severe weather like that as well?

FYI I bought weather nerd to compare it. It's not worth the extra yearly subscription fee IMO. It is prettier on the glance and the phone app, but not worth it. Dark sky will improve graphically. It does need to IMO especially on the watch. Looks nice when there's some weather but when nothing is happening just text on black is meh
