I don't know about Earth. Though it is obvious that all other animals and creatures would be better off without humans. Well, other than the Chihuahuas....

Maybe, but first we should learn how to plug a leaking pipe.

Where the hell is MacGyver?
Maybe they could use MacGyver to plug the leak, have you seen him lately:

The earth doesn't care whether we're here or not, whatever we do to it only affects our own state and standard of living.

For me it's not about whether this planet is better off without humans or not.

It's about the state of the planet we leave behind for future generations,
at present an exponentially expanding toxic legacy.
If every time I take a book from the library I **** on the cover and tear out half the pages...

Reminds me of an e-mail I got a couple of days ago:

All of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon emissions.... well, I feel it is necessary to inform you of some bad news. It really does pain me to have to bring you this disappointing information.
Are you sitting down?
Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since its first spewing of volcanic ash this past week, has, to this point, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet.
I know, I know.... (group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of: driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just the past four days.
The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in the past four days has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon.
I'm so sorry. And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two years.
But hey, grab a Beer, give the world a hug and have a nice day!

You didn't by any chance give this chain email any critical thought when you got it?

without for sure...unless we can come to our senses and stop exploiting the earth.

We are the Borg.

The Earth is a huge rock in the middle of space. Nothing human is going to destroy it any time soon.

Humans and other lifeforms are better off without humans. I don't think Earth could care less. If I were Earth I'd be more worried about the gravitational pull from the sun and meteorites.

This is about the oil spill, right?

First, we need to identify who's responsible - but I warn you, it may be an uncomfortably large group.

Earth might be better off without those humans - but I pity the poor planet they relocate to.

We give earth a more interesting history I guess

Cheers to that! Sure if we weren't here the earth would be a better place, cleaner and still beautiful, but without us, there would be nobody to see all of that... And then effectively screw it all up:eek:

With.
Otherwise what is Earth but a planet?
If it explodes and there's no one to see it, does it really exist?
I'm more worried about all that litter we managed to put in outer space.

That is pretty much my view too. Eventually when humans screw up the earth enough, they will become extinct and the earth will recover from all the damage just fine.

Or rats and a whole bunch of wild animals that would not survive anyway. We humans got so powerful and so pathetic in the same time that we tend to forget that animals die out from time to time. It's not just human involvement that makes certain species disappear. Sometimes they are just not fit to survive. Or pandas just don't want to shag. Do you want to save them? Hm... I would pass on that project.
