Yeah, I don't think I'll need to relearn. It will take a matter of a few minutes to readjust to the larger screen. Then it will be just like now, while I watch tool time on tbs and type this without looking.

I type in landscape half of the time - it's not that hard to adjust.

The only thing that 1 mm in horizontal and vertical size of the keys will do is let my fat fingers make fewer mistakes. As for the relative spacing, who touch types on an iPhone????

Surely if you're looking at the screen, you'll see if you've typed a wrong letter, and if you're looking at the keyboard, you'll see which letter you're pressing.

If you're not looking at the screen or the keyboard, what the hell are you looking at..?

With more and more rumors pointing to the iPhone 5 having a bigger screen, 3.7in or 4in. One big point is being missed, the keyboard size will change with the bigger screen. Over the past 4 years I have personally gotten very used to the 3.5in screen and it's keyboard, to the point were I don't have to look at the screen to type. With a bigger screen we will all have to relearn the spacing and size of the new keyboard. I guarantee after a few days to weeks we all will have it down, but just pointing out a minor issue that most will have when they pull out their new iPhone 5 from the box.

<shrug> I must be the only one who consistently hits N instead of the space bar.. drives me batty..

Maybe the new screen will alleviate that, maybe it'll make it worse..

increasing a screen from 3.5 to 4 inches wouldnt be that big of difference..
Just like for all of us who switched to an iPhone 4. It was different. The screen size was the same. But the phone was thinner and flatter. Which changed your feel. Which you also had to adjust too..
Its not going to be that hard to get used to it. No biggie

The adaptation will be quick enough. I started off with a first gen iPod touch back when I had an LG slider as my phone. I got used to the iPod touch keyboard rather quickly and thought that was the perfect size. Then I upgraded my LG slider to an HD2 (4.3" screen). I used the stock WinMo 6.5 keyboard and welcomed the additional key size for my somewhat fatter thumbs. Then I tried many different Froyo and Gingerbread roms on it. Now I've gone through each version of WP7 on it. The point of my story being each of these roms had a slightly different keyboard and I ended up having to adjust. But they all shared one thing; I preferred the size of a bigger keyboard to the one on my iPod touch. I welcome the bigger screen rumours (just so long as it's not too big. 4" is perfect IMO).

Yeah I thought about this before, I'm so used to it now I can type without looking as well. Might take a few days and a couple hundred texts to get used to.

Awww, cripes. Now I've heard everything.

Oh how the snarky people of MacRumors.com make my day every day. OP, I get what you're saying. It probably won't be a huge adjustment. However, after sending tens of thousands of text messages over the past few years with my iPhone, and who knows how much other typing, I'm sure even a slightly bigger keyboard will at least be noticeable at first.

honestly, no matter how small or big your fingers are, a bigger screen will make your typing more accurate.

Forget typing, i'm gonna speak to the iPhone!

Might as well make a call :p jk
