Lately...facebook is extremely slow on my macbook...especially when i go to view pictures...and i get alot of blue boxes with question marks in place of photos sometimes....anyone else experience this? in the U.S. if that matters.

Working fine for me.

This problem would not be something associated with a specific computer, more along the lines of your browser or internet connection. What browser are you using, and are you using a shared internet connection?

It's been sooo slow on mine too latey, for weeks now. Pages take forever to load, and it prompts me for my password whenever I navigate to a new Facebook page. The iPhone app has been messed up and slow lately, too, so I thought that the site was just having general issues. I'm using the latest version of Safari, too. I could have sworn that I saw a thread on here recently about how slow the site was, but I can't find it anymore.

Its because Facebook are using a new system of Flash to browse peoples photos and everyone knows Flash on the Mac's is incredibly resource intensive, it maxes out your processor to nearly 100%.

Well, talk about luck, since I've posted my last post, it has started to slow down, with these being some of my biggest complaints. The password every five minutes has started to really bug me, especially when you are having a chat with someone and it logs you out to type in your password (but then again, facebook chat is already suckish beyond all belief).

The most recent iPhone app update appears to have worked out most of the bugs, but the one bug that the developer really made note of was that all timestamps are now fixed and will work correctly in all time zones. But it didn't complete them for me, all time stamps are correct but in PST, while I'm on the east coast. But at least they aren't random like they've been in the past.

I've noticed that too, it really bugs me that my processor shoots up while visiting what should be a simple webpage.

Thanks for all the replies..

I use safari.

This answer about flash sounds most logical...Like facebook works fine on my alienware pc.. but is slow (some times) on mac.

I've used Facebook on a few computers, and for me its slow on all of them. They have some funky stuff going on with their servers.

Face book is very slow on my son's power Mac g4 on either firefox or safari he can sometimes get it to work ok but games like mafia wars rarely work he has 2gig's airport (with full bars on connection) 120 gig hdd and 10.4

My other two macs work fine on facebook as do my 3 other PC's my other 2 mac's run 10.6.

Is there a fix for this? My wife is about to go nuts on my son because he won't leave her macbook alone. :apple:

I doubt flash games will work very well on a PowerPC machine... They certainly don't do well on mine. I don't think there's anything you can do to solve it, other than using the other machines.

TRY GOING TO SYSTEM PREFERENCES>FLASH PLAYER At the bottom you will see NPAPI and PPAPI plug ins. Make sure they are up to date/installed. Worked for me.
