Mine is 5+ legit messages per day ending up in spam.mine works pretty well, maybe 5 or so legit messages in spam per year.
I check my spam folder and empty it daily.

FYI - versus sending it to yourself, you could just leave it in Drafts.Google just outdid itself.
I sent a message to myself (with photos attached, so I could then access it from a different machine), and that message went to spam!
Photos were taken on iPhone, needed to be accessed on Windows laptop. I do that a lot. First time it's ever gone to spam. I didn't see it in the inbox or in the sent folder on the phone. Was surprised and decided I'd look into it later. Later when on the laptop, I saw it in the spam folder. I regularly monitor and empty the spam folder because as this thread suggests, I routinely find legitimate messages in there.FYI - versus sending it to yourself, you could just leave it in Drafts.
Additionally, were both machines Apple devices? If so, and you're signed into your Apple ID on both, you could access the images via Photos...
