every leaker has said that Apple is aiming for portless iPhone, it might happen before a notchless iPhone lol, anyway

if they made the iPhone portless, they should somehow give it a benefit like a bigger battery

that's what they did with the removal of headphone jack it allowed for bigger battery too

removing the headphone jack enabled Apple to increase the size of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 battery by 14%
it also increased it's water resistance

do you think so?

I hope the port never leaves, I use it occasionally to transfer a large group of photos to my iPhone in the field.

I have a feeling introducing Magsafe this year is the precursor to removing the lightning port soon (possibly as early as next year, but more likely in 2 years). Sure, it might make water resistance a bit easier as it's one less thing to seal up, but Apple seems to have that figured out. It would also free up a small amount of space for something else...

I think they will get rid of the lightning port within the next 2-3 years. They may start using a smart connector if anyone does need to connect a anything to the phone.

I am curious how Apple can do this when a lot of us have our music snd movies ripped on our computers and need the data cable to sync.
