is gold still more coveted than other colors?

Yes, gold is still the best and everyone who says otherwise is jealous.

Personally, I think the gold iPhone looks like a leprechaun took a ****.

It was a novelty when the 5s first came out, but it's been around for a year and even competitor phones offer a gold option. Now I'd consider it to be on par with the other ones (ie no real winner in colour popularity).

I feel like it will still be the most in demand color this year again, but I personally find it hideous on the 6 and Plus.

The 6 and 6+ in gold don't look as good as the 5S gold did. The Space Grey actually looks pretty good this time around. I'll have to see them in person though.

Who cares get it if you like it. I had almost every iphone since the 1st gen and all were either black/silver/gray of some kind. I'm going gold this year for a change. I thnk it looks beautiful the Verge hands on video won me over.

I am going for Silver/White.

It looks clean, and stands up well.

After a while the space grey will show it's age. The silver, less so.

The gold has stood the time as well, wear wise.

The 6 and 6+ look the best in space grey. Gold seems to look tacky now.
IMO, the gold on the 5s was perfectly accented by the white glass on the top and bottom of the phone. Because the 6 and 6 Plus use white lines instead of glass, the extra gold looks way to tacky. I too think this time around Space Gray looks the best, with White and Silver tailing not too far behind.

Why is that? The Space Gray color doesn't chip or flake off like the Slate color on the iPhone 5. It's a much lighter color compared to the Slate color so that "brightening" that was going on hasn't happened.

I too decided to go with gold as a change. Not that it really matters too much since I use cases.

If you look at the delivery dates right now, it looks like the silver is the most popular.
Keep in mind though, that Apple produces in quantities they expect to sell, not ⅓, ⅓, ⅓. So if they thought silver would account for 15% of orders but it's running at 25%, supplies will be tight but it still wouldn't be the most popular.

I ordered a gold 6 plus. Have a gold 5s now.

I really like the Touch ID button and iPhone 5s polished chamfer and the polished Apple logo.

Now that the 6/6 plus has rounded edges I might put a light brown Apple Leather case on it.
Depends on if I like it naked or not.
