Is google data mining with Android?

I've heard that some apps are stealing people's information like cell phone numbers, text messages, browsing history ect.

Do you think Google is doing the same as a market research project especially for Google Ads? How to target their ads, where ect.

The same question could be asked for Apple.

I doubt they're doing anything that isn't declared openly in their Ts & Cs. Google is already a very profitable company, and it wouldn't be worth their while to risk getting caught doing dirty work!

They don't do anything that bad, though they do log usage of their services anonymously.
