iPad mini Is Griffin as protective as Otterbox?

Needing to get a rugged case for my teen son to put on his ipad mini.

We have Otterboxes on everything portable Apple product we have and I am looking at getting one here as well, but am wondering if the Griffin would be as protective? They offer more color choices! 😉
