My guess is since they added triathlon modes to the watch, they will at least make sure the battery life can last through an Ironman or something.

I would LOVE for the watch to last a weekend camping trip.

3-4 days with no activities
2 days with activities both days
12-14 hours for an ultra race.

There is no need to compete with watches that last a week. I have an Epix which supposedly lasts 6 days and it is a beast but I still wear my AW as a daily driver because of my lock in with the Apple ecosystem. The Epix is amazing but I still find myself wishing the AW could do even 1/4 of what it does. Funny how that works.

It is fun to speculate!
The rugged one might last as long as the Epix does, but the” stock” watch, aluminum and SS won’t change. I also have the Epix and if the rumored 1k price tag is correct for the new “rugged watch”, that’s a no go for me. Garmin metrics blows away Apple’s “ ring” mentality.

I think this is the most reasonable assumption. No way they ever catch Garmin in battery life - and they probably dont need to. Its an elite group of folks who really use all that their Fenix's and Forerunners offer. Apple is happy to capture the rest but, they also probably realized the current battery situation was not enough. I know many people who tried Apple Watches and have since moved on. Every one of them said it was because of battery.

Battery isn't an issue for me. Have no problem getting through a day and 20 minutes of fast charging gets me by if I don't remember to charge it overnight.
