This was such a great feature; I used to be able to just select my iPhone in my iPad's Wi-Fi selection screen and get connected without having to manually turn it on on the phone first.

But now this feature no longer seems to be there. Did Apple remove it, or is something ****ed? :(

I still have it after upgrading iPhone X and iPad Pro.

Do you have bluetooth enabled on iPhone and iPad?

Well, of all things, I tried changing the personal hotspot wifi password, and then it started appearing.

I'm guessing that kicked whatever system daemon controls this service. Hopefully it will keep working though!

The feature is there but it just doesn’t work. My iPad Pro shows my iPhone SE as a hotspot. But if I turn it on from my iPad’s WiFi settings it never connects. I got it to connect one time, but I forget what all I did to do that.

I submitted a bug report on this.

Try what I did above (change the hotspot password) and see if that fixes it.

If not, Reset Network Settings. I did a ton more research on this issue since I posted and one or both of those usually fixes it. I should have done the research before starting this thread but I was frustrated!

I used to love Instant Hotspot.

It just died, I think it was after an iOS or MacOS upgrade.

I still do not have it.

I tried changing the password for the hotspot but it did not work.

UPDATE: I did a combination of changing the password, logging out of iCloud on my MBP, and it started working.

Thanks

I've also experienced a lot of issues with Instant Hotspot.
But I found out one thing that helped. If you have a Mac, find the program; Keychain.

Under iCloud, there will probably be some old hotspot passwords from different iPhones. Delete those who are not your current iPhone (check the dates), restart your iPhone, iPad or Mac, done. It worked for me. But be extremely careful about what you delete.
