Still fast and not a big difference compared to the Pro.

The air 2 will be like the iPad 2, last a while.
Still being able to receive iOS updates doesn't necessarily equate to good performance. Just look at all those folks complaining that Apple should allow downgrading because the latest iOS update made their iPad run like crap. The iPad 2 may have gotten until iOS 9 but I personally wouldn't update it past iOS 7.

That said, I think the iPad Air 2 would fare better than the iPad 2 in this regard. Imho, the iPad 4 and newer have aged more gracefully than the iPad 2.

I own an Air 2 and use is heavily for all sorts of different tasks. GarageBand, gaming, web browsing, occasional video editing with iMovie, etc. and I never have a problem out of it. I see no need to upgrade at the moment, although, I will eventually want to get a 12.9.

iPad 2 for the most part kept performance pretty good. Only the last few updates slowed it down.

Honestly, my Air 1 still runs every game or task I throw at it without any issues at all. So, that means the Air 2 will be just ducky. ;)

My Air 2 is doing fine , no issues . . It does everthing what I need , with no lags. I will problably skip Pro 2 . I hope IOS 11 wont slow down my Ipad.

iOS might but we will see how far the tri core processor and 8 core GPU can get us without noticeable slowdown. I will definitely skip the Pro 2 but will be upgrading to a Pro 3.

I saw some videos comparation and I made some test in stores. The iPad Air 2 is only a notch more slow then the new iPad Pro 9.7. I will remain with it till the 2017 model.

My original iPad Air has been somewhat slow the last few months. It comes and goes so I thought it was something to do with my internet service, but the internet loads quickly on my Mac Mini. I think my problem is I only have like 950MB of storage left. I have the 16GB. I am ready to update, and I need a Christmas gift so IPP 12.9" it is. I used my mother's, and I will enjoy the bigger screen. I would be tempted to buy the Air 2, but I like the bigger screen.

So the one coming out in March? Seems pretty premature to upgrade with Air 2 performance still doing so well
iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 9.7 are very similar in performance. I think the 2017 iPad Pro 9.7 (or 10 inch or something) will be better and ok to buy. If not I will remain with my Air 2.

Can an iPad Air 2 with cellular functionality be used using WiFi mode only? In other words, can I turn off the cellular part of it without the iPad constantly nagging and not working properly because I don't have it connected to a cellular network?

Sure, no problem. I've done this on my older iPads after I upgrade. That said, you already have the Apple SIM on your iPad. Why not sign up for the free T-Mobile 200MB promo? At the very least, that should be helpful in locating your iPad when it doesn't have wifi.

Sure! You can also set the plane mode with WIFI on.

Never had an iPad with cellular option. Can you just pay for cellular as you need it or do you have to pay every month regardless if you use it or not? Dumb question I know, but just want to verify.
